Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

The rumours are all over the shop - the only team I haven’t seen mentioned is the Brums, who seemingly have a full roster, which is no doubt the source of @Brumby Runner remarks. Rebels players were given the option to preference which franchise they wanted to player for. If the Brumbies have...

Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

The Reds have confirmed signings of 2 Rebels and the Tahs 1, with only one or two more rumoured for each. I'm really not sure where these supposed crazy numbers are coming from. Tahs in particularly have already lost several players, and the Reds are rumoured to lose a couple too, so they...

Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

A bit tricky to control player movements when the model never even got off the ground, don’t ya reckon?

Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

Or, you know, those who were asked didn't want to make the move west if other options were available.

    Wallabies 2024

It's probably confirmation/recency bias, but it feels like Achilles ruptures have become a lot more common over the last few years than they used to be

He’s definitely bulked up but he’s on the shorter side. I’d believe he was among the top 2 heaviest in the backline though.

    Queensland Reds 2025

Have seen this said a few times now and I don’t quite get it - of the current squad, Petaia, Annan, and Vunivalu are big, and Paisami and Henry play big. Injuries obviously impacted availability this year, but the squad isn’t lacking size to the extent suggested imo.

    Queensland Reds 2025

Great news - I'm a bit surprised by the one year deal, although he will be 30 next year and probs looking to chase the cash while he still can

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Aren't the same people pushing the story that RA knew about the level of debt and insolvent trading the same ones suggesting that RA always wanted to chop the Rebels and did so at the earliest opportunity? That doesn't quite add up... I don't doubt that RA probably suggested to clubs that there...

No, but Adam, you see, this is all about the fight for the best interests of rugby in Victoria - the greater good, if you will - and has absolutely nothing to do whatsoever with the $8m in Penalty Notices

Also possible that it's the marketing team signing off - wouldn't be unexpected if their contracts (and obligations to sponsors) ran through til 1wk post Super final

I think it was really only his last season with the Storm that he had issues. It'd be understandable if the logic was that he'd recover with management and the relatively-speaking lighter load of Super.

The talent clearly is/was there, it's about the consistent execution. On top of the (perceived) injury-related confidence issues, he seems to have not been able to fully grasp his role in the 15 man game. It's quite unfortunate really, as there have been so many glimpses of hope.

    Wallabies 2024

I would think the national coach providing targeted and detailed feedback to guys not only outside the squad but wholly unavailable/off the park is uncommon, at least to what we've seen previously. I'd happily be wrong about that, but happy Schmidt's doing it nonetheless.

    Wallabies 2024

I've heard similar conversations have been happening even with injured players (who won't be available this year). Great stuff

    Queensland Reds 2025

He hasn't looked too flash offensively either though (apart from some flashes of days past). He's lost his pace and seemingly confidence, and has just looked lost. A team would need a fair bit of faith in his potential, and trust that he'll again flourish in a simpler game. Yes, I realise I say...

I reckon he'll be more likely to score an overseas contract than with the NRL - he'd be a pretty tough sell at this point

    Wallabies v Wales, 6 July

I thought his soccer career peaked for the Labasa team. Did he play for Fiji? Agree though, he can kick. I'm pretty sure he has a 50-22 to his name?

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Still ~50% of people though - you'd imagine many of whom fall into the 34% who do not use a streaming service. Not to point out the obvious, but it's also important to remember that these are numbers for all streaming services, not just Stan (or whichever platform rugby will be on moving...
