    Shute Shield 2012

I think Schwags was binned for interfering with the Woodies halfback at the breakdown (presumably after a warning as I thought this is what halfbacks are paid for). For what it's worth, I thought the Woodies deserved their win today. Alcock and Macafrey jnr were particularly good, as was...

    Waratahs - Positivity thread

Good thread WJ They have identified and developed some very good young talent. In the current side: TPN Kepu Cat Douglas (still only 22) Alcock (23) Dennis TC Horne (22) Kingston (20) Foley (21) Lopeti (20ish) Turner Picked up rejects from other franchises and turned them into quality...

    The Naming Of The Backs

Someone emailed this to me the other day. In the words of the great Sam Kekovich: "You know it makes sense" http://www.fnqrugby.com.au/2012/05/the-rugby-world-according-to-cookie-oosthuizen-ex-springbok-prop/

    Swapping Props

In answer to your original question, though, there are good reasons why this may occur. Teams have 3 props, 2 starting and 1 on the bench. Often 2 of the 3 are specialists one LHP and one THP and the third can play both sides (usually has a preference for one over the other). Say the Wallabies...

    Rebels 2013

Pretty good player who played Colts and a bit of 1st grade for Uni until the middle of last year. Has got good pace. He's still young at 21 or 22 and not injury prone if I remember correctly. The Fiji qualified thing is a bit unclear. The way I hear it, he played a game that he and most of the...

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2012

As a Joeys tragic who was at the game it hurts me to say it but I agree. However that 2nd try was still an absolute cracker. The Scots 15 looks to be a real talent. Joeys forwards looked pretty good though and I suspect some work has been done on the backline defence this week. Joeys often seem...

    Shute Shield 2012

Watched him play for Uni 2s in their big win over Norths last night. Had a very good game and scored a great individual try. I suspect he'll be in 1s before too long. Uni had a good win in the main game as well with Schwager, Talakai and Hickey being the standouts. Super franchises could do...

What is wrong with the Tahs

He was a reasonable prop and played a bit of first grade, which was no mean feat in a club that had front rowers like John Coolican, Declan Curran and Greg Burrow at the time. But I digress......

    SuperRugby Waratahs V Crusaders, Rd 10 2012

Paddy's injury happened at a breakdown at about the 70 min mark. He had his feet wide as he was reaching over a rebels player trying to pilfer. He got cleaned out awkwardly and his right foot was stuck under some players so all his weight came down through it.

    Waratahs 2012

His shoulder was already injured when he attempted that tackle. He did it quite early.

Waratahs vs Rebels Rnd 9 Super Rugby 2012

They couldn't put pretorius on because he was the only back on the bench after hangers went on for foley at half time. If they put him on earlier and there was an injury in the backs they'd have to shuffle a forward out there.

    Scrums 2012

I suppose Law 20.8(i) could be interpreted that way, but that's the first time I have seen it applied in that fashion. I think most would agree that this law was brought in to prevent "popping" a player where their feet are off the ground and their neck may be flexed into a dangerous position...

    Scrums 2012

Interesting call from Lawrence last night. Penalised tahs front row for "pushing up". I have never seen this penalised when the "offending" pack is going forward as was the case on this occassion. It sometimes (probably not frequently enough) gets called when a team is on roller skates going...

    Waratahs 2012

Terrible luck for Fitzy, he's had no chance to realize his enormous potential because of that bloody knee. I think all the hard heads are contracted, Lee, and Benny Roberts has (sadly) retired. Maybe Sam Roberson from Uni. He's young, but has size and a bit of 1st grade and junior tahs under his...

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

Flights booked. Looking forward to this one. I thought tahs forwards were good last week, but I wouldn't underestimate that Rebels pack. There's a few young guys who will have learnt a lot last year. Who's likely to play LHP for them. ? Henderson ? Blake.

    Waratahs 2012

What about Kingston for a wing spot? Assuming Horne plays oc and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) plays fb,TK would move to wing. Trist is as good at fb as wing and could reliably cover both.
