Both McCutcheon and Alcock re-signed with the Tahs months ago...

Not saying you're wrong just saying it seems like a roster imbalance.

Rebels should go for Jenkins, perhaps both of them. But I think we've spitballed this on this thread before.

Rebels need a good Hooker more than anything else. Especially if Ged is going.

Another quality Prop would not go astray either.

I'm not sure Jenkins would offer the type of 7 which would develop the team. If we want a busy, hard tackling 7, we could just use Saffy.

Julian Huxley has apparently signed a contract with Narbonne in French second division

While there is a lot of anti-Huxley sentiment on this board (and elsewhere), his contributions to the club have been important in their first two years. That being said, I think this is probably the best outcome for all involved. Huxley has provided good injury cover/depth this year but it has become obvious that he is not (or will not be soon) in the best 22 anymore. I wish him all the best, and hope he gets to enjoy the French sunshine.

Noticed in Growden's rumours of the week this week that he's suggesting that the Rebels are buddying up (no pun intended) with the Hawthorn football club. Possibly deriving from KB (Kurtley Beale)'s (and by extension JOC (James O'Connor)'s) friendship with Buddy Franklin or possibly just because they've actually decided to watch a Carlton game and realised that being involved with them may not be the best idea anymore . Or maybe with the Hawks losing HSBC as a sponsor they're getting in with Rabodirect too. Who knows.

Either way as a Hawks fan in the AFL, I'd be pretty happy to see both my teams on the same page. But even putting that aside, I'd be happy if it were true as Al Clarkson has always been one of the master innovators in AFL circles and I am sure that the Rebels could benefit from his input.

Ged is signed till end of next season. Freier was expected to be tbe starting hooker last year, we know how that went, so after his great season, he signed a 2 year extension.

That's a massive reassurance, but we still need to recruit another hooker. I do not believe we will have him around forever.

Fijian winger or fullback Alex Rokobaro (Stade Français) has signed a 2-year deal for the Rebels.

I think he may have played as a top up player during last season's trials against Tonga.

There's certainly some photos of him doing so on the internet.

Don't know anything about him, but outside backs are exactly what we need. Have you got any info on him?

From the little info I have found, it seems he played for Sydney Uni before heading over to France. I suspect our more learned Uni supporters may be able to illuminate us further. I don't believe he is currently capped, so it could be a development player.

I saw him play for NSW v QLD at the Lismore trial way back in 2010 (I think). He was the standout NSW player, along with Peter BEtham. Is Fiji qualified now, so is a marquee.

He's a decent player who used to play Colts for Sydney Uni IIRR. Played in some Junior Tahs games a couple of years ago and in trials as RR said. He's pretty quick.

I think the Rebels had a look at him before last season but he didn't make the cut IIRR.

Played for Stade Francais but not a lot of starts that I can remember. Was a fullback and played a bit of Top14 mostly during the RWC and either side of it as Turinui did.

He's Fiji qualified? He probably is, and that means it is easier to get a gig to play in Europe, but it doesn't mean he has to be considered a foreigner by the ARU. He used to live here, though for how long I don't know.

But he hasn't played in a test match and I don't remember seeing him play Sevens on TV (though he would be good at it); not that my memory is that great. Could have played for Fiji A I suppose.

Can't find anything to confirm this news... I have seen this rumour for a long time now but nothing on either french or aussie medias.

Pretty good player who played Colts and a bit of 1st grade for Uni until the middle of last year. Has got good pace. He's still young at 21 or 22 and not injury prone if I remember correctly. The Fiji qualified thing is a bit unclear. The way I hear it, he played a game that he and most of the other players thought was an under 20s game but were later told was a Fiji A game.
I think when it comes to Pacific Islanders they seem to be able to bend the rules a bit. I know a deal was worked out for Jerry Yanuyanutawa to play for Fiji at RWC and still stay at the Brumbies last year (not as a marquee player). For various reasons it didn't happen in the end.
Anyway, I hope Rocko does return. He's a good kid and a real talent with genuine top end pace.
