Yeah....I'm a big Aumua fan but Taukei'aho has been playing well....

I like this team Ardie at his best position Akira gets a second shot - needs to prove he is not a flat-track bully. Retallick rarely has 2 average games in a row. Reiko back to wing with a proper mid-fielder at 13 Big questions for me: 1. Is Weber a lot better than TJP? Here's his opportunity...

    TRC2021 - All Blacks v Springboks @ Townsville 25/09

For me, the reason the Boks almost won was because the All Blacks were a bit off their game. Yes - some of that has to be attributed to the Boks but the All Blacks uncharacteristically left a few opportunities on the field with poor handling, option taking etc. A couple of players didn't make...

    TRC2021 - All Blacks v Springboks @ Townsville 25/09

The ABs played pretty poorly by their standards and still scraped a win. I think they will be disappointed with their physicality and inaccuracy at the breakdown as well as just general handling errors. It's been a looooong time since I've seen an All Black team lose the battle at the breakdown...

Exactly. Forget about these guys and look to the talent you already have here.

Is it? The framework talks about direct contact and danger but I'm not sure it mentions force? I might be wrong.

    TRC2021 - Wallabies v Boks @ Suncorp 18/09

I really don’t like the language around it being intentional or not. It doesn’t matter. I also can’t see how it can’t be reckless. If you have to smack into the head of the opposition to clean them out then players need to learn that the ball is already lost. Better to have it turned-over...

What is the expectation of Sean McMahon? Where was he ranked as a Test player when he left?

You’re the second person today who has misunderstood me so it’s probably me LOL

Again, there was no discussion about it. It was simply stated as a fact. It’s what happened. They don’t debate it or discuss. The discussion is about whether the contact is simultaneous.

    TRC2021 - Wallabies v Boks @ Suncorp 18/09

It seems to me that the Laws only talk about accidental contact in determining whether the head contact happened due to ‘foul play’. It then talks about what is considered ‘accidental’ ‘Accidental contact with the ball-carrier tackled into the defender’ ‘Friendly fire’ as the two defenders...

I agree. I never underestimate a Boks team. No. :p

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I wonder if the Boks are feeling any effects of not playing Super Rugby and Rugby Championship for 1-2yrs. If SAANZAR created a Lions type team, who would beat them in the NH?

    TRC2021 - Wallabies v Boks @ Suncorp 18/09

Whether it is accidental or not has no bearing in the Laws. The fact that there was head contact is what makes it dangerous. The mitigating factor, according to the framework, is that it wasn’t direct contact to the head. Which is why the TMO asked the ref whether he was sure that the shoulder...

    TRC2021 - Wallabies v Boks @ Suncorp 18/09

Sorry - I probably wasn’t clear. Listening to the conversation between the TMO and the ref during the Swinton card, you can clearly tell they are following the framework. Not sure why they weren’t as decisive with Weiss. Again, it think it had to do with the height at the clean-out but to me...

    TRC2021 - Wallabies v Boks @ Suncorp 18/09

I’m saying that the refs got it right with Swinton. Has the citing commissioner reversed the yellow card? If not then the commissioner and I are in agreement.

    TRC2021 - Wallabies v Boks @ Suncorp 18/09

This is just wrong. There was clear head contact from the tackle which causes it to be dangerous so you can cross off 'low degree of danger' and the there were no mitigating factors. According to the Laws, mitigating factors are: Mitigating factors (must be clear and obvious and can only be...

    TRC2021 - Wallabies v Boks @ Suncorp 18/09

Complaints about the ref always happen. The Wallabies had a similar little moan about the ref after the first game at Eden Park this year. I'm sure the ABs have done it as well.

    Refereeing decisions

They didn't discuss whether it was a shoulder charge or not. The ref simply said that Swinton lead with his arm. Again, it quite easy to see how the refs came to the decision they did when you follow the framework.

    Refereeing decisions

This is exactly why the yellow card on Swinton was correct. The ref followed the framework and nothing in the framework notes anything about wrapping arms.
