McCall and Frawley fly in the same circles don't they? I'm not having a crack here but don't really see this as a significant change.

At this stage he's a player TOCC, he's been down doing pre-season with the club since November. I know he's been playing in some invitational sides lately though so hasn't been around as much, but I expect him to be there when the season starts proper in a few weeks.

Kuridrani has been down at GPS, looks like he's stayed at Yoku Rd. Depth is looking very good this year, easily enough numbers for Premier Grade - 4th Grade and some very handy players running out for the lower grade teams. From what I have seen and heard there are a few positions where the...

I have to say the efforts I saw from some of the Sunnybank grades players on the weekend were just stellar. I think the same 20 or so players lined up in all three grades trials (1sts, 2nds, 3rds) and they put in strong efforts throughout each session, especially in the hot conditions...

Saw Will Genia walking around Brisbane CBD yesterday with his family. Any reason as to why he wouldn't be over in Europe?

Could you at least get a beer this year?? I had a rant about the beer service at a Ballymore trial back in 2013 and haven't been back since.

I like the idea of the Goromaru membership as it has such a wide appeal in Japan, however, I wouldn't be so keen if they started doing it for other players in the squad. Where do you draw line? The Reds might flog 5,000 Liam Gill memberships but how many Rob Simmons would they go through or...

I believe at one stage during 2012-13, GPS had Joey Lalagavesi, Pama Fou, Junior Rasolea and Sean McMahon all in the Australian 7's squad. It was a nice thing to have their names on the books but I don't recall them playing much down at Yoku that year!

Bulldog - there were some very frank discussions between the committee, Dammers and the senior playing group at the end of last year to confront any of the issues. From the outset in 2016 everything seems to be running much smoother and some of the blokes who had their panties in a knot are...

Looks to me like a bit of a make or break year for the current group of coaches down at the club. Without wanting to create some sort of mass clean out, most of the coaches for 2016 have been down there for 2-3 years and as you've mentioned a few guys who were part of the system coming back...

I think you'll find that all the chat about GPS players jumping ship, specifically to Norths, has been blown out of proportion. Their pre-season squad has been very strong with many of the names linked to other clubs being involved. On that note, I have heard that Norths financial backer isn't...

Yeh I'm a bit confused by it. If there are going to be two season of possible recruitment and tinkering before entering into the Premier Comp, shouldn't that be enough time for Logan to get the full contingent of teams? You would think the carrot for players to head to Logan would be the...

    Reds 2016

With the Bronco's recently signing Roberts and seemingly leaving the door open for Dale Copley to exit, I wouldn't be surprised if the Reds have at least tested the waters in regards to signing him. I've seen him play flyhalf, fullback, centre and wing for the Broncos and he's got a good skill...

McWhirter stepped down on his own accord to focus on his business and Park had been President in the past and then decided not to take on the role for 2016. I think you'll find much of the movement on the board isn't so much a sign of unrest but rather people seeing out their tenure. Of course...

So most Premier squads would have been training for a few months now as a pre-season block before the xmas holidays. Anyone spotted any interesting movements, either players or coaches?

Yep fairly sure Andrew Taylor will be having a role in the grades program at GPS for 2016, something to do with Brisbane 1st Grade I believe. From what I've heard it was a bit of surprise to everyone that Norths showed him the door.

Yes I definitely heard Waita as being linked to Norths so not sure what is happening. On that note though I have heard Mitch King is being factored into GPS pre-season plans and many had been saying he was going to Norths.

A few more interesting names popping up during GPS pre-pre-season block, Radike Samo and Lagi Setu. Hopefully a good sign of things to come. Have also heard there were some very interesting decisions in regards to board members, club Presidents etc at the recent meeting.

    USA launches professional rugby competition

Hopefully they don't go all hell for leather on overseas players during their startup phase, although the way the MLS competition has gone in recent years makes me think they may follow a similar model. There is such a dense player base over there that I can see them forming a relatively...

    Reds 2016

In past seasons I've been a bit critical about the Reds lack of a blockbusting ball runner in the forward pack and specifically whether Schatz deserves his spot in the starting team due to his overly workmanlike attitude. I've decided to let that go this season though as I'm pretty confident...
