Round 5 - Jaguares v Reds, Jose Amalfitani Stadium, Sunday 26 March @ 7:40am AEST

Chucking Tuttle and McIntyre in a trial by fire over in Argentina for their first run on together seems an odd move to me. Although I give some leniency due to the Quade suspension. I love the Reds and will continue to support them this season, but I'm predicting a fair flogging here, again. Ugh.

Any team lists yet for weekends fixtures? I hope the Reds website will keep posting match previews and team lists prior to the weekend as they did last season.

Bulldog - I didn't see the game on the weekend but surely the Doggies deserve a few more weeks before the coaches are put under the microscope? Uni have always been and will continue to be one of the benchmark teams of the competition, quite honestly I wouldn't expect a team such as Wests who...

    Round 3 : Reds v Crusaders - 11 March 2017 - Suncorp Stadium

Quite honestly in past years, with the young playing group and lack of mental fortitude the Reds have had, I could easily have seen them getting thumped at home in this game. This season, however, the Crusaders aren't quite the awe inspiring team of death they have been in the past, still very...

    Brisbane Global Rugby Tens

In regards to the alleged ticket sales (30-35,000 if reports are to be believed) do we think Ducco would be happy? Personally I imagine they would be hoping for a sell out event based on the ticket sales of Sydney 7's and the fact it is being hosted in arguably one of the best rugby viewing...

    Brisbane Global Rugby Tens

Heineken Hill was listed as allocation exhausted last week. Now it seems you are able to buy tickets for it again. Has anyone bought some already? Is the area general admission or assigned seats? If it is general admission they may have switched on and reallocated some seats into that...

    Brisbane Global Rugby Tens

A quick browse of the ticketek page for Auckland 9s seems to suggest they also sell only 2 day tickets. Surely for the 10s they will offer single day tickets on the day, at least on the Sunday. They'd be losing out if they were turning away people on Sunday who decided last minute they wanted...

    Brisbane Global Rugby Tens

Considering the cost of some of the higher tiered tickets, I'd say if NZRU can't come to an agreement and let a couple of the top squad All Blacks play, it will have quite an adverse affect on sales. It has definitely been marketed as a fun, but still high end event and the prices reflect this.

Anyone else think it's a bit disappointing they aren't offering large sections of the stadium as general admission (choose any seat in your section type thing)? It seems to work better at these types of events in my opinion, allowing larger groups of friends to sit together. I thought it...

    Reds 2017

My understanding is that BLK is in receivership, not dissolved. Without getting into all the technicalities they seem to still be operating but most likely under different ownership. I have seen quite a few posts from the Reds where they are all wearing new BLK gear for season 2017.

    Reds 2017

Good points there Braveheart, it is definitely a case of managing both sides, the talent and the potential and there are other factors which can influence a signing. I don't really want to keep pushing this subject in the thread so I'll finish by referring to the Reds specifically here as I...

    Reds 2017

I agree but I think it goes both ways. In the modern age players are being identified earlier, signed to full-time contracts earlier and getting their training under way. Some of the training programs available to guys in schoolboy and age capped representative teams are far beyond anything...

    Reds 2017

Magnay now has 12 Reds caps under this belt (albeit a few with limited minutes) and has been in the professional setup for a while now. I think that 2017 is really the year he needs to make his mark at the Reds. I hope he's given an early opportunity in his preferred position.

Not sure if this is at all relevant but I saw Schatz (as in viewed him with my eyes, not spoke with him) in Brisbane just a few days ago. If he was signed overseas would he already be with that team? Or maybe still doing rehab in Brissy.

No not at all, I'm not sure how the GPS Hierarchy feel about it but I would hope and presume that like most supporters they are happy for a bloke who has done so much for the club over the years to be rewarded.

There was a media release relating to Shane's reappointment at the club and players/officials had known about it for some time, recruiting was under way etc. Then he was signed as a member of the Reds coaching staff, I think maybe a week or so after he was officially named GPS Head Coach so...

I think you'll find the Maranta signing isn't much of a surprise to those inside the Reds and Bronco's organisations. Not sure if there was anything said on the forums here last season but there were already rumours flying around that Maranta wanted to join the Reds back then.

Hopefully I'm proved wrong but a starting backrow of Tui, Houston and Smith doesn't exactly spell 'Premiership Contenders' to me.

Will be interesting to see whether the likes of Nabuli and Kuridrani (doubt Frisby would due to the Wallabies) backup after the Reds game and turn out for GPS to try and get them over the line against Uni.

    QLD Premier Rugby 2016

Credit to Brothers, Uni and Souths who are sitting in good positions to play finals in nearly every grade from Premier down to 4ths. Uni are always in that situation but it shows some great depth and development from Brothers and Souths who from memory didn't always have the stocks to put...
