Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

We definitely dodged a bullet, but ifeel like he was on a hiding to nothing there. I thought he was initially going to just get tackled and either turned over or driven in goal. I actually think he deserves credit on that one. He was put in a bad spot and helped us dig out of it. Won’t pretend...

I dunno - I don’t think it was Kellaway’s best year to be honest. I think he’s been decent in the two tests but I thought he made a lot of mistakes from what I saw in Super Rugby. I know that reputations are hard to shake and (clearly) I thought Wright’s tap was a poor choice - but I do think...

Yeah, look - I think some of the criticism of Tom Wright is very overdone - but that choice was terrible and showed a complete lack of composure and game IQ. The fact it almost came good only highlights that - it fucking didn’t and that’s why you don’t take a quick tap with the game in the...

Your second paragraph explains your first. I don’t think anyone has been claiming Lolesio is a world beater. But none of our 10s are at this time and Lolesio was arguably the pick of them during super rugby. Having said that - who was the last 10 who looked consistently threatening outside Jake...

Hopefully he comes back. His insight was always worth reading. He’ll be happy to see Gleeson getting a run

Agree 100%. It takes people long enough to let go of past perceptions of players.

That’s my read too Derpus. I think Wright is likely to come back in when fit and Cale probably has the jump on the number 20 jersey. Wilson played for Brothers on the weekend. Pretty sure he was limited to half a game which suggests to me RA are controlling his time and have a plan to bring him...

Honestly I think Wilson is much more deserving this year than Gleeson and would do a much better job. But then I think the same was true last year and the year before. I still struggle to see the appeal of Gleeson at test level as he seems to have the odd really good play mixed in with a whole...

I think Wilson has improved his break down work, but it’s still not a mainstay of his game that I’ve noticed. I wouldn’t say I’ve noticed it much in Cale either but I haven’t seen as much. Wilson’s ball retention could still do with a bit of work at times as well. Cale is more like for like in...

Got to be honest, I don’t see the massive motor bit. He can make an impact though. His hands let go down a bit but he can break the line.

If he gets any chance I wouldn’t even be surprised if he pulls rank and suggests to a Charlie he packs on the side for any 5 metre attacking scrums :)

I get it. I never picked Blyth to feature in the squad at all and had Swain as virtually my first picked lock and thought Ryan Smith was as good as anyone in Super rugby. But I’ve always liked Blyth as a player (although I acknowledge he’s had his dumb moments a few times) and I thought he was...

Very happy to see Nasser get his shot. He was looking very promising before the first of his injuries a couple of years ago. Hopefully he grabs the chance with both hands.

I’m guessing that the qualities that Schmidt sees in Blyth are the exact ones Frost is missing at this time.

Possibly - but they have McReight & Gordon on the field so I don’t think it’s the end of the world if he doesn’t

    Brumbies 2024

They also bit the bullet 6 yrs ago and made significant internal sacrifices to run a viable ongoing operation. And suffered a decent amount of upfront pain to do it. They then did significant work with corporate support to prop up the income side of the ledger. The tax payer assistance came...

Sorry to be cynical, but I suspect a lot of the changes people are proposing have more to do with initial selections people didn’t agree with then actual form on Saturday. I still suspect we’ll see a largely unchanged side.

    Wallabies v Wales, 6 July

I think they should change the rule to 3 seconds from when the ref says use it (which is normally 4-5 seconds at least anyway) and the actually enforce it. Box kicks would still be a useful tactic but would be harder to execute properly and wouldn’t bring the whole game to a stop as much.
