Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

This thread is putrid, I’m out. The players will end up where they want to end up ultimately.

    Reds v Wales, Suncorp Stadium - 19/7

I think it was established that they had to have this week's game east at Georgia's request due to their travel schedule, and that they did try and have it elsewhere e.g. Newcastle, Gold Coast etc but there were no other grounds available

    Wallabies v Georgia 20 July - Allianz Stadium 3.45PM

I’m sure they will be fine, it’s only a week and there are worse places in the world to be shipped off to than Sydney

    Waratahs 2025

I do get your point but there are only 2 of those props on the list that are capped wallabies plus a capped all black, and none of them are front line selections, and there is currently only 1 wallaby lock in the Qld squad, and he has played a total of about 20 minutes off the bench in 2 tests...

    Waratahs 2025

I suspect there is a bit going on behind the scenes. Note that the Brumbies have also been very quiet with their player movements. This centralization thing might actually be a thing.

    Waratahs 2025

Don’t stress Froggy, it will get better. Just remember your mates played for a representative team, and it was effectively NSW origin back then. Times have changed, the NSW leather elbow patch dudes couldn’t ever get their head around the team becoming professional and did not adapt. Hopefully...

    Wallabies v Georgia 20 July - Allianz Stadium 3.45PM

Wilson and Gleeson are still in the conversation. Edit: I was killing time at the motor registry and missed the 21+ test criteria

Not until the RC I think

    Wallabies 2024

I think there is a strong chance Harry will be in the 23 v Georgia. He has popped up a few times recently in the rugby media, which is rarely coincidental, and Joe specifically mentioned him in the post match presser on Saturday as a player who was nearly picked, if not for fitness. There is...

Sounds like you are particularly invested in keeping Charlie in the team BR.

Well we’re all waiting on your insights.

    Wallabies v Georgia 20 July - Allianz Stadium 3.45PM

Joe did imply in the post match presser that Wilson was close to being brought back in this week. Did he go around in clubland again, my interpretation the week before was that they wanted to make sure he was fit? I suspect he will be tried out further for Qld on Friday night though. There is...

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

They definitely need to be kept in the system. The 3 overseas players will make a difference to our effectiveness against the top nations. As an example, Skelton into the row, either Williams or LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) to 6, and Bobby to 8. Kerevi to 12. I’m not sure who the 3rd will be, possibly Koroibete. I...

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

I don’t think Cale was neither terrible nor brilliant, but my concern about him still stands, he is too light for a test 6/8. Blokes like RG Snyman will rag doll him with one hand. He has a future but 2024 is not his year, off to the gym to find another 10kg.

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

I’m less concerned about giving Slips a rest now than I was last week, he seemed to get through the game fine last night. It might have been the injury he picked up during the game last week that made him look so busted. There’s 3 weeks between Georgia and the first saffa test, however it may...

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

I think someone pointed out last week that it looked like Wright was defending behind the ruck, as the second line of defence, hence his low tackle count. Presumably Cale then Gleeson had the same role last night. That being the case, the stats might indicate that our front line defence was...

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

I don’t like putting the boot into players too much, they all try their best. But, didn’t even Rennie eventually concede he had ‘backed the wrong horse’ re Noah? I think we all hoped he had developed over the past couple of years, but I think it’s now clear he had actually reached his ceiling...

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

If you look at the possible backline options for the Waratahs I can 100% see this happening there. He has the skills and the spatial vision.

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

Agreed, Charlie was less than outstanding so I’d say we revert back to the game 1 back row. Gleeson was pretty good off the bench, ripper line out steal among other things.
