There is no way rugby Australia would be in a position to turn down the 50m on offer from the Victorian government
  2. Rebel man

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Considering no other government wants to front any cash for Super Round either.

The article says that the Vic government is set to offer Rugby Australia 50m for the World Cup final and semifinals. If rugby Australia cut the rebels and miss out on 50m in funding plus the reduction in TV rights that 9 will be seeking if we drop a team the lunatics are running the asylum

Most lads who play union follow the storm because they win.

It’s the problem with Aus rugby and super rugby as a whole. There is too much politics between the states in Australia then there is too much politics between Aus and NZ

If the cut the Rebels I will never support Australian rugby again, a life time of supporting the wallabies will be gone.

Yep all the AFL clubs relied on volunteers all the way up until the covid season in game day roles and they still have a network of volunteers working in talent identification. I get it is hard for the Rebels to find volunteers as their network is so much smaller

One thing I would definitely look at if I were the Rebels aligning with the MCC. So many private school boys in the MCC that would have been exposed to the game as school boys but also they promote to their members everything that your membership gives you access too. There are over 200,000...

I don’t get the Force v Rebels animosity. I always firmly believed we should remain at 5 sides and was disappointed to see the Force go. Yes I was happy my team survived but I was sad for the game in Australia that the force got kicked out

Your only answer is spend less money. What’s the point of the club if we do this? You need to spend money to compete. We have had more sponsors than normal and secured good deals with the government.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Considering most of the revenue is fixed from RA TV rights deal and they have to pay the market rates for the players there is not much they can do.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

You look at all the halfwits celebrating the news. Look how many test players have come out of Melbourne of late. With the Storm now investing in junior league to try and develop their own players we will not see one more Melbourne Wallaby if the rebels were to fall. Also the Vic government...
