Been saying it forever the season is too short

Kemeny is a good player but not a huge loss. Maiava and Smith could come in to cover him. Leota could also play 6 allowing Ekuasi to start at 8. Hopefully Talataina is good to go next year and potentially earns a spot off the bench

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

As Rugby Aus have said. It’s a matter for RA and the venue to work out as they are operating the licence and nothing to do with the administration. All the existing contracts were with the Rebels now there needs to be a deal with RA

Settle down champ, it was a joke

Because they could write it off against tax

    Australian Rugby / RA

The NRL and AFL are diversifying their income streams. Where as rugby relies more on the game sadly

    Australian Rugby / RA

lol obviously the government money will go into the redevelopment. But when that happens and the ground is generating income 365 days of the year and not just when sporting events are on where will that money get spent? On growing the game

    Australian Rugby / RA

While I get the economics of it. It will make things even harder for rugby in Aus. Where will the AFL put that money? Into the grassroots game in NSW and Queensland

    Australian Rugby / RA

It’s more the fact we are tipping in all that public money to a privately owned asset

    Australian Rugby / RA

The AFL is getting a 225m dollar handout to help make the AFL owned Marvel Stadium more profitable. It really is a case of the rich getting richer
  11. Rebel man

    Australian Rugby / RA

The problem is the NRL and RA are lazy. You talk to people in the AFL heartlands they talk about funding cuts over reliance on volunteers. Issues retaining players. All the development money gets spent in NSW and Queensland. This is particularly having an impact on rugby. We need to focus on...

Those party to the contracts would probably have a better idea than fans on a forum

    Australian Rugby / RA

I get your point, I was just using the salaries to show the financial growth. But you are right it’s the money they put into the grass roots that is the issue

    Australian Rugby / RA

The top 50 players would make close to double the super rugby salary caps for Aus sides. Nobody is disputing that there is more money in international rugby. But we have to compete in a domestic market. Where the financial growth of the AFl is going to pose an even greater issue
  15. Rebel man

    Australian Rugby / RA

With the AFL set for the top 50 earners to all be on a million plus in 2025. Rugby really is a long way back

    Wallabies 2024

Yeah just play all 6 tests in Sydney

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

You have NFI. If the code can’t fund the minimum cap spend and all the clubs are in debt and pretending losses this year than the issues is with the game
  18. Rebel man

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

And that’s exactly why every Aussie club is in debt and forecasting a loss. Because of rugby Australia. Both the NRL and AFL take care of the salary caps they distribute roughly 130% of the cap to the clubs. RA is asking all the Super clubs to live beyond their means
  19. Rebel man

    Wallabies 2024

Yet they will keep putting the games on at a shit time for us
  20. Rebel man

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Not really there fault rugby Australia rip off the clubs. What are the rebels meant to do? The comp rules are they pay 90% of the cap, that is less than the RA funding
