    Kurtley Beale

I was watching Offsiders yesterday and I was struck by the simplicity of their analysis. (this is obviously not verbatim) Kurtley - just change your shirt. You're paid very well by sponsors and the ARU to wear whatever is deemed the appropriate uniform of the time; just change your shirt. None...

    Kurtley Beale

I'd like to consider it a development, but given one of Fairfax's articles was a complete admission of "we even fucked up a basic google search", subsequent articles have cited "senior players"" naming only 2, with KB (Kurtley Beale)-relevant quotes from only 1 player (hardly a team....)', and now an article...

    Kurtley Beale

The offending 100% bullshit article was actually uncharacteristically a Rupert Guiness article. Robinson's didn't really address it, though

    Kurtley Beale

You might want to see this article - Pulver sighted the docs and a reference check (including seeing whether quals and experience were legit) was done when she joined the staff. I assumed that would be standard for an org like the ARU - it is where I work...

    Kurtley Beale

That article has since been taken down because the qualification numbers and details were sent to the 'journalists' who posted a story designed to shift the blame to the (alleged) victim, as was the confirmation from the CMC that she had worked there (perish the thought that the wrong name was...

TrainerGB the Uni-affiliated junior club closest to you would be Taylor Bridge over at Indro. Otherwise there is Kenmore which also isn't too far away. I have no experience with the Taylor Bridge club itself, but I know many on the committee and in charge of running things and they run a tight...

Does anyone know if Prem Colts is moving to U20 laws next year? It'd be nice to bring it in line with NSW and the IRB JWC and I know there have been discussions had. If colts remains U19 then I think Thor should and will play grades. NZ has fully contested scrums at the level he's been...

    1. You're fucking kidding me and your bra comment is way out of line. 2. The convo in this thread has centred around GPS players leaving for Souths but just as your post wasn't intended as GPS v Souths, my response was simply illustrating a problem with the phrase "long term battling" at the...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

By that criteria GPS have been longer term battlers than Souths then - 1 GF appearance since the win in 1996. And until 2010 Uni had appeared in one losing GF since 1992. The club prioritises the Doughty Shield, so I'm not convinced they'd see that long a drought for the top grade as a failure...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

I think describing Souths as "long term battling" is harsh. They aren't far off the pace at all. Finished 4th in Doughty Shield Won as many premierships as GPS (1) in 2014 Lost 9, but 3 of those losses were within 7 - if those narrow losses had been wins instead they would've ended on the same...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

I don't think anyone will begrudge the 2011 non-Premiership year. It was amazing that Uni finished minor premiers that year, but my memories of that finals campaign (going out in straight sets) was that everyone just seemed exhausted. I think there's something to the every 2nd year 'dynasty' -...

    Reds 2015

Thanks Reg. So he was announced as a signing, but he's not actually signed as a player, rather as a general employee of the QRU (which all players are anyway) whose duties will involve weight lifting etc.? This isn't intended as facetious btw

    Reds 2015

If he's a foreign development player he HAS to be on a 2 year full time contract Reg. Can't be a training contract for a foreign dev player. He'd be on minimum full time contract around 60K (inc super) I just hope we aren't setting him up to fail. Imagine 5 props injured next year, of course...

I think we're overstating Picone's influence over players - he has players pretty much everywhere and I know that he recommends they go wherever is the best environment for them to excel and get noticed. If I were in GPS's position though, I'd be more concerned about Tuqiri leaving the club...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2014

And the "impact" is arguably negligible. There was only one scrum packed that was uncontested, that scrum was a Sunnybank feed on the Sunnybank side of halfway (on the 10 IIRC) and they opted to kick the ball soon after rather than keep it in hand to grind out the game while they were still 2...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2014

Sorry I don't understand. There was one uncontested scrum and when that happened Uni dropped to 14 men (again). You don't call uncontested scrums when there isn't a scrum to pack, do you? You can know it's coming, but hypothetically if there were no more scrums in the game, why would/should a...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2014

I think Scott Allen's blow up at Backstrom for not letting him replace the injured prop shows how few people HAVE read through the rules. I knew that you couldn't replace the prop if you went uncontested, but I didn't know you could walk the stands/Hill looking for appropriate sober props. The...

Sam Cochrane strained his calf on the Monday between the games doing Boot Camp for fitness (I know - a prop doing additional fitness the week of a GF - he hasn't lived it down yet). Pat Fepuleai was pushing to come back from injury (judging by compression garments he wore everywhere for the past...

And @girtbysea as a former Masters student studying injuries in rugby I can assure you that almost none of the policies (including head injury and scrummaging policies) and age-based restrictions specified by the IRB have any basis in research.

I've changed my mind completely on this in the last 5min. I previously thought "well, they're just the rules - colts don't play extra time because that's just U19 international laws". I've since come to realise that THE FILTH WERE ROBBED. That's right, you heard a Uni supporter saying that the...
