Super Rugby: Round 1. Rebels vs Brumbies - 23 Feb AAMI

It's better than I thought they'd have. What could be considered disappointing is this was the time for the community to come out and show their support in the current climate. But to be fair to them. They aren't missing much.

Super Rugby: Round 1. Rebels vs Brumbies - 23 Feb AAMI

What really annoys me is that it's the same every season. No one ever seems to learn from failed campaign after failed campaign. Come on guys. Skills can be refined and built on. Why are we still tearing our hair out?

Super Rugby: Round 1. Rebels vs Brumbies - 23 Feb AAMI

Say that again. Coupled with just a plodding brand of Rugby. As a neutral this is frustrating the hell out of me.

    Australian Rugby / RA

Question for the Rebels fans. What if the only way to save the franchise is to essentially run everything out of RA on the administrative end while only maintaining HP ops in Melbourne? Because that's probably the only way I can see that happening.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Quick question. Did the Rebels receive any less than the other Super Rugby franchises?

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Was kind of having a dig at the Brumbies more than thinking you were criticising Victoria.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Umm...to be fair to Victoria they've produced more pros in recent times than the Brumbies.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

The Storm already have a Jersey Flegg side. From the looks of it they had one from as far back as 2015. They seem to be committing the SG Ball (which they have run sides in previously) and Harold Matthews. Which sit at around the same ages as the JNRC which is also why I said that they should be...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Each of the Super Rugby clubs would have 9 home games as opposed to their current 7.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I actually never suggested these guys moving to Sydney to play Shute Shield. What I suggested was looking to maintain the academy systems in place and operate a academy team that would compete as a stand alone in the Hospitals Cup as a pathway to professional Rugby. It is as good as having the...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

And why did they need to put their own money in?
  12. WorkingClassRugger

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

No, they travel to play in the Shute clubs. I can talk about this from experience having done so myself. There are plenty of WS kids playing in Shute Shield clubs beyond just the Two Blues and Pirates. I've been a proponent of 5 Super Rugby franchises for a long time. I'm not happy to see the impeding...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

They'll probably do what the kids that play out in Campbelltown will do. Which is from experience being one myself you get approached by one of the Shute clubs and then if you want to pursue it further you go play for them. This isn't a situation anyone here wants. But blaming anyone other...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

There are 91 games in total played across SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) at present. If it moved to a 18 round double round robin then that would be 90 in the regular season. Would actually mean slightly more games.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Because the Sydney elites criminally mismanaged it over the entirety of the clubs lifetime? How much money has been poured into supporting the Rebels? RA you know the Sydney elites chose them over the Force when they originally cut a team. When does accountability come into the equation? I...

Having no NRC is better how?

Taking into consideration the very uncertain future of the Rebels I've been thinking about a means of maintaining the pathway for Victorians into Super Rugby. And one way could be the formation of an academy based squad that would compete in one of either the Shute Shield or Hospitals Cup. I'd suggest...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

From my perspective WR (World Rugby) should be really targeting Europe as it's biggest market. It makes sense to look to build the number of teams that can offer competitive games. Europe and the Americas are the two most important growth regions for the game in terms of competitiveness overall. Would be...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Yeah some really big improvements all round. Last year Germany got belted 75-12 by Georgia so this result is a big turnaround. And Romania beat Poland 67-27. Good progress but we have to see if it's sustained. I know WR (World Rugby) helps the likes of Chile and Uruguay with providing resources to run full...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

The REC kicked off last night with two very tightly contested games. The first featuring the Netherlands vs Spain ending with a heartbreaking missed shot at goal to win it for the Dutch in front of their home crowd. 18-20 for Spain. Followed by the boil over of the rounds in front a over 5k fans...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Apparently it has performed very well. DTS didn't really begin to take off until the 3rd season. And Full Contact saw ratings at the level of DTS Season 4. So we'll likely see a second season and according to reports the 6Ns teams are giving them more access. Might see a better second season.
