    Shute Shield 2024

Well, you'd hope that a Super A side would be favourites to win the Shute Shield.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Particularly as for all that lay out of cost they only saw 61k for the first game and 42k for the second.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Netflix would actually be an interesting option. They are running a trial of live sports broadcasting. Would be a pretty big reach in terms of audience.

I suspect that's across two games. As in. They've counted the attendance from the first game treating it as one crowd and count the crowd for the second game as another. Added them together an boom. 40k.

The only people who still push that are the kiwis.

Just looked it up. The game was on Gem. Still not great but at least not on the main channel.

Super Rugby: Rd 2. NSW Waratahs v Crusaders, Sat Mar 2

Oh definitely. I hate the Reds and Brumbies with a burning passion when the Tahs are playing them. But against every NZ team. I will never choose the NZ side.

    Round 2: Rebels v Force 8pm - 1st March

Wasn't there something circulating last year about he doesn't really practice goal kicking. Which if true is absolutely insane being the primary kicker for his team.

    Round 2: Rebels v Force 8pm - 1st March

Yeah. It's been a much better game than I was anticipating based on each teams performance last week.

    Super Rugby General Chat

Honestly. A 2nd Pasifika team playing out of Western Sydney wouldn't be the worst idea. While the Moana is there to provide a pathway for PI players it only partially addressed the issues faced by the PI Unions but specifically Sampa and Tonga. The Drua gives Fiji even more of an advantage...

But the alternative of fewer games each week but a longer season would help negate the loss and possibly increase value. A double round robin would be 20 rounds of 5 games each. So 100 in the regular season. With at least one bye.

If they desperately want a 12 team comp then upgrade a NPC province. I think in Cricket there was once a Central Bulls team based in the North. Do that. But shipping in the Jags is dumb. Sth America has been building professional Rugby in the form of Super Rugby Americas. Which has had a...

    Super Rugby General Chat

It's dumb. Shows absolutely no awareness or acknowledgement of the issues that previously plagued Super Rugby. Also would undermine efforts going on in Sth America to build professional Rugby in the region with Argentina as its base in terms of teams. Would add little to no value from a broadcasting...

And I'd argue it has less to do with the game itself and the fact that it has been appallingly managed here over decades.

It was up against the Matildas game on 10. Who are a pretty big draw post WWC. A significant number of the casual sports fans would have tuned into that I suspect.

    Australian Rugby / RA

Don't be shocked if Newcastle comes under new ownership in the form of the Saudi's. They are actively looking a a few English clubs and the owner of Newcastle has been out to SA recently. In terms of the NRL buying into the ESL I suspect it would be more about funneling talent from the ESL to...

They've been fairly quiet on the ticket sales news. Which may be telling in itself. It's competing with the LA Sevens for the actual Rugby community in the US. Will be interesting to see the comparison in turn outs. Vancouver is apparently nearly sold out.
