    Was in November last year
  2. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies 2024

If he started talking about his exit strategy of kicking it short to an All Black winger I'd stop listening to him pretty quickly
  3. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies 2024

He played really well for the Australian Barbarians against England on their 2010 tour. (Waltzed into Australia A?). Everyone got injured through the test season. He was pretty likely to have got a cap through there if he stayed healthy

Argentina v Australia TRC Round 4 Sunday 8 September 5am (AEST)

I'd be open to rotating LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) and Bobby V, but I'd be picking first choice Bled backline to give them all a shot and some prep in dry weather (presuming the rain is holding off). My assumption is that that would include Gordon and Lolesio

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I think it's more than when there is a break in NFL, everyone knows what it's for, how long it's going to take, and broadcasters and the stadium can slot in whatever distraction they have ready to keep the masses happy. With union we all mill around wondering what's going on as someone ties...

    Wallabies 2024

Yeah - would have made the Wallabies based on 2010 season but injured his shoulder and was never the same through 2011
  7. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies 2024

Did they? They had a decade plus playing league and then a season or two playing union (not always, but often getting test caps almost immediately).

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I just have kids who won't sit through a rugby test.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

That's cause they aren't mysterious gaps. They are planned. They fill the gaps with content. That's the lesson to learn.
  10. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies 2024

The average fullback, five-eigth and half back get paid twice as much as the average winger, and the best of them get paid far more.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

The lesson here is to make sure your sport doesn't have mysterious 3 min long gaps of dead time, else everyone will get on their phone and stop paying attention.

    Refereeing decisions

Didn't an Argentinian get knocked out (hitting his head against LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto)'s hip?) in that phase of play?

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

Frost probably catches 20 from 20 at training, and Wilson has probably never dropped a single one. Weren't those dropped restarts in the Super Rugby semi what cost Swain a spot in the squad ;)

Argentina v Australia TRC Round 4 Sunday 8 September 5am (AEST)

Anyone know why BPA's last game in France was in mid-March? Was he injured? Not selected once he'd signed with the Force? Insulted his coach somehow?

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

Yep. Frost wasn't reading the wind for mine. He was jumping and then getting lifted into the wrong position as the ball shifted its trajectory. With a series of botched kick-off receipts and his defensive debacle during what should have been the match-winning try, he had a pretty shocking...

    Refereeing decisions

Yeah - I have no problem with that. Just giving the sequence of events. Came across too early and then didn't leave the maul when asked The new not straight interpretation was the interesting bit
  18. Strewthcobber

    Refereeing decisions

9:03 on the clock. Argentina's lineout throw wasn't straight. Taken at "4' in the lineout. Australia doesn't put anyone up until Frost jumps slightly later at "6" - noting he probably would have caught the ball if Arg jumper disappeared Doleman doesn't blow up the not straight, because there is...

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

What's pretty soon look like on a Lions tour / RWC 27 timeline?
  20. Strewthcobber

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

Lolesio just ticked over his 20th win for the year from 27 matches (74%). He's only lost to the current WC champs, the Super Rugby winners and runners up and the Top 14 runners up (plus Lyon, but that was 9 mins on the wing in his first game in France). Always difficult to do the analysis on individuals...
