    RD 11: Rebels v Blues

I couldn't bring myself to vote for any Tahs or Force players after their efforts on the weekend. The Brumbies were disappointing for a lot of the game against the Drua. On the other hand, the Rebels were impressive against the Blues (the form team in the competition) until the last 10 - 15...

Crusaders v Reds: International Star Wars Day 4:35pm NZST

    Untried as a centre pairing.

Crusaders v Reds: International Star Wars Day 4:35pm NZST

Reg, I'm assuming you are assuming both Paisami and Flook will be off with the Wallabies, and probably so. But a completely new and untried centre pairing is risky isn't it? Won 't Henry be available by then? Any one else in 13 would allow Ryan to play in his current spot on the wing and leave...

    Wallabies 2024

Pretty sure Sio has sufficient Wallaby caps to be picked under the Giteau rule.

    Wallabies 2024

Froggy, I did rate Hooper as a world class No 7, but not in his last two or three years of playing. My real beef against his inclusion in the Wallabies in recent years was that he was (not through his own fault) keeping a far better No 7 in David Pocock out of that spot in the Wallabies. It's a...

    Round 11: Brumbies v Fiji Drua Sat 4th 7.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

I am not a fan of Berry as the ref, but overall he had a better than usual game I thought. He did bottle it on a couple of occasions to the detriment of the Brumbies, but that simply seems par for the course. In one late scrum, Bowron popped up before the ball emerged to the Fiji side and was...

Not the Hooper of the last couple of years D.

    Round 11: Brumbies v Fiji Drua Sat 4th 7.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

An overall poor effort, not up to scratch. But still a win while playing poorly, like earlier in the season. But sorely needed the bonus point in this game to stay in touch with the top two on the ladder. Think Bernie made the wrong choice in replacing Hooper instead of Frost. Hooper had the...

Great game Reds and well deserved win.

    Wallabies 2024

Wamb, it's no secret. All year I've favoured Carter Gordon as the starting 10 with Noah next best. I am looking forward to seeing the Wallabies backline running off Gordon's superior passing game.

    Wallabies 2024

Very close to what I'd go with too Froggy. The one change to the starting side I'd make would be Gordon in place of Lolesio. I know that would compromise the goal kicking, but I reckon Gordon's kicking has shown good improvement as he's taken the job on at the Rebels and wouldn't be the risk...

Australian Super Rugby Team of the Week 2024

Wilson, well done again. But for the record, Tom Ross is now with some team somewhat further north than the Brumbies. :) The number of entries is a bit concerning, isn't it? Perhaps an indication of waning interest in rugby generally, or just that only very few have the time and interest to...

    RD 11: Rebels v Blues

Dru, just like so many posters make other threads unpleasant with the continual carping about Tom Wright. It is legitimate to point out where there are weaknesses in Kellaway's game tonight, just as it is to acknowledge his strengths which I have done. Anyone saying he has been excellent at...

    RD 11: Rebels v Blues

Just to be clear, I am not saying he is poor or not deserving of a Wallabies spot. I am pointing out that he does make mistakes in the fullback spot and that his better position is on the wing. All of the good stuff he has done tonight, he could have done (and possibly more) playing on the wing.

And then he goes one on one against Tupou and scores. Not hard to beat a prop in open field play but where was the fullback in the defensive line? Oh yes, in near the tight and falling over himself without having any influence.

Absolutely rapt in how they are shutting down that AB wannabe winger Telea. Keep it up. He is a pretender.

    RD 11: Rebels v Blues

Canham, Kemeny and Lowrense all had a good first half. TT enthusiastic but unfortunately very ineffective. Still, Rebels well and truly in the game. Keep it up. A win will cement a spot in the 8, perhaps challenging for the top 4.

    RD 11: Rebels v Blues

Very early days in the match but already some pointers to the difference between AK (Andrew Kellaway) and Tom Wright in the fullback spot. Rebels on constant attack for phase after phase in the Blues 22, and AK (Andrew Kellaway) absent from the affray. Wright would have been up to his neck in those exchanges. And when Andrew did...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I think the Rebels days in Super Rugby might be over but there should be a continuing presence for a semi-professional side down there. That will depend on a suitable competition being set up which looks very unlikely but is probably the path best suited to all of our Super Rugby sides when the present...
