    Darwin Hottest 7s 2012

Aussie Thunderbolts and Brumbies both knocked out in the quarter finals. Semi Finals: Daveta (from Fiji) vs Darwin Olympic (beat the Aussie team in pool match and knocked them out last year); Vietanici (local NT team) vs SRC Borneo Eagles (2x defending champs, who beat Sunnybank)

    Western Force 2012

Dave Harvey is with Narbonne for the game today and, according to him, he is still waiting to hear from the Force about a contract. There is a little bit of rugby league about Dave's play, but he played rugby as a kid for Hills and has always been a fan of the chip and chase.

    NSW Suburban Rugby 2012

There seems to be a thread for alot of different competitions but not one for Subbies? Anyone got any insight into how different clubs are shaping up for the 2012 season. There was talk of a couple of new clubs joining the ranks - Alexandria Dukes, Rooty Hill. Rumour also has it that...

    Darwin Hottest 7s 2012

Don't count on it mate. Last year, the couple of days before the tournament were alright, then Saturday came and the morning was relatively mild, the rain came around 11am we played in the mud, it got hot and was humid as hell. Plenty of water and fluid on board today in my opinion. Good luck...

    Darwin Hottest 7s 2012

Then definitely hit up Monsoon's for the nightlife and arvo beers over the weekend, or the Cavanagh, which by all accounts provides free accommodation to good looking female backpackers to hang out at the pool in their bikinis during this time of year.

    Darwin Hottest 7s 2012

There are so many different levels in the competition which is good. In the main draw, a surprise packet was a team called Darwin Olympic who knocked out the Aussie Thunderbolts in the semis or quarters. If what I heard up there was true, it is an invitational team made up of soccer players...

Share what your Rugby Club does well?

Keithy, Just suggesting a quick check - as I have just done. From Hodgie's Bit, a weekly wrap on the Subbies website (June 20, 2011): Siblings The Shute programme last Saturday also mentioned that Epping topped Sydney Uni’s pairs of brothers – at 12! Talking of siblings; Petersham fielded...

    Darwin Hottest 7s 2012

Dude, Darwin 7s is awesome. My club took a couple of teams up last year, but left our run a little late to organise. We actually played the Mudchooks in the semi final of the Gecko Cup last year - the guys were not too shabby in the 7s game. We spent alot of time at the Monsoon's Pub. It was...

Share what your Rugby Club does well?

Not 100% sure, but I think Nick Phipps is involved with Petersham - I think he was their colts coach in 2010. Barbarian, I am the First Grade Coach at Epping and we have had similar problems in recent times - especially attracting coaches. Actually this year, we had a few interested parties...

Shute Shield 2012 ins and outs

Sydney Shute Shield teams may need to be careful, as there are several Subbies clubs with money to spend on players - especially those who have realised that they are not going to pick up Super contracts. Guys like Anaru Matthews (Balmain), Leo Afeaki (Drummoyne), Vinny Byrne & Greg Wade...

Shute Shield 2012 ins and outs

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Chris spent a bit of time playing Subbies Rugby for Hornsby and is Leroy Houston's cousin.

    Waratahs 2012

I'd have to agree, I quite like the idea of the Waratahs sporting a backline where only Pretorius at 9 and Barnes at 10 are set positions. With Carter and Horne in the centres but playing as mixed 12/13 and Turner, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) and Mitchell mixing it up at the back, it gives the Tahs an unpredictability...

Shute Shield 2012 ins and outs

I don't think that it would ever work, but an idea may be something of a player draft. All players are eligible to play for the Club of their choice in the Colts competition (this would allow young players to play close to home/work/school etc). At age 20 (when they finish Colts and graduate...

    Shute Shield 2012

Andrew, if you are still interested in coaching senior rugby, but with less time committed, I know of a subbies rugby club that could be looking for coaches. PM me if you are interested.

Ian Parkinson has already played a couple of Shute Shield games I believe - maybe off the bench.

    Sydney Colts 2011

Eastwood to go over the Pirates and set up a clash with Manly. This one should be a good one. The Woodies will want revenge over the Pirates from last year, and the clash with Manly will be a cracker. Randwick to surprise? Easts, and set up a clash with Uni. I thinka Manly-Uni final, with...

    Shute Shield 2011

Teams are up on the NSW Rugby website for this weekend's games Some very strong looking teams - loving the look of the Manly backrow and backline.
