    Reds 2015

Fair chance it is his plan. As it is for SBW, at least the 2015-2016 part. Possibly Folau too. Doesn't make it a bad plan if it buys the Reds one year to transition their squad.

    Wallaby Watch 2014

Sorry Ruggo, couldn't read the rest of your post; too mesmerised. Warms my heart reading those words.

    Rebels v Brumbies Rnd 7 2014

For me the Brumbies are the form away team of the conference, hard to see them putting a foot wrong. Pressure on Mogg will be important, his ability to slice open defences when given a run up is one of the best in the comp, but he is fragile when pressured as we all know. The Wallaby fan in me...

    Waratahs 2014

Midfield battle will certainly be interesting. If Foley and Beale have time and space Brumbies are in a world of hurt Patty 'Chuck' McCabe or no, but no doubt much of the Brumbies work will be around not letting the opportunities get that far. Our backline stocks are certainly looking good...

    Reds 2014

All stats are useless unless you look at them in context though, USAR. I'd guess most coaches keep a weather eye on players involvements and metreage nevertheless, it is after all a fundamental of the game; 'go forward' as it were.

    Rebels 2014

Now that the pain, humiliation has eased (mine, not theirs) I have to echo much of what is said above. In particular DVH's observation of the irony of Totality Tony from mastercoach to Robbie Deans stumpf in one week. I guess for me I'd summarise the game this way; 1 - Force played superb...

    Pumas v Wallabies, Rosario, 5th October 2013

I am just rapt that the team played so well and Cooper showed a true test class game for the first time in ages. Comparing Simmons to Nonu is a bit rich, one is a hard competitor who is a world class centre the other is a want to be hard competitor who in my opinion would struggle to get test...

    Ewen McKenzie: Wallaby Coach

Can't say Link's efforts have impressed me so far but to be fair I don't think his selections are that bad, and certainly they are surprisingly close to Deans, possibly too conservative. In hindsight the one set of rugby where I saw Link's vision and felt it had merit was the first half of bled...

    James O'Connor misses flight

I apologise if I got the wrong end of the stick, but a might is right approach to making someone one of the team isn't the right way to go about this. i suggest something simple and more effective, evicting them.

Australia v Argentina, Sept 14th in Perth

World class? Scrum weak. Ball handling error filled. Realignment atrocious. Support runners for carriers non-existent. Transitions achingly slow. Combinations appalling other than a few decent set moves, and they all crashed with errors. Alexander looked like he was going to die at...

Australia vs South Africa - Brisbane 7th Sept 2013

Must say I'd be keen to hear Mallett and Mitchell's views but neither of them are known for saying much. Presumably Campo fills the fluff, er, filler role.

Australia vs South Africa - Brisbane 7th Sept 2013

The trouble for Quade is that he simply isn't even close to his 2011 form. Yes he plays a more conservative game, but he has lost his electric unpredictability. And on the conservative qualities To'omua largely outshines him. I want him to do well but to my eyes he simply isn't. Genia isn't...

Australia vs South Africa - Brisbane 7th Sept 2013

My impressions now that I have had time to think about it. Overall the first half was positive. I could see what the team was trying to do, and I felt that while it hadn't gone their way they were playing positive rugby. Some odd ref decisions all round and poor runs of play by the Wallabies...

Australia vs South Africa - Brisbane 7th Sept 2013

You may, I don't. O'Connor missed 4 tackles all Super Rugby, and the Ranger incident was one of them. Four. I'll agree it is possible that even with no injury Ranger would have bumped him off, Ranger is superb at bumping guys, but O'Connor is no slouch on D. And he deserves a lot of credit for...

    Beale to Tahs, where?

Tactical kicking reminds me of the military term tactical withdrawal. It is so often used when you are being routed!

Australia vs South Africa - Brisbane 7th Sept 2013

Sorry Dmac I couldn't read your post, found the reference to the Wallabies as Wobs too grating. No doubt it is the paranoia in me thinking it smacks of cocky kiwis calling the Wallabies Wobblies. We Aussies are never cocky. Except when we win sport. Which I suppose is, historically, quite a lot.

    Beale to Tahs, where?

I see Kurtley as a fullback, and when in form absolute world class. He can play 10 but has more impact when he can roam and loop. He and O'Connor tied the Chiefs up in knots on attack this year. I also feel he needs lots of game time, preferably in one spot, to blow out the weeds and refind...
