2024 Under 20 Rugby Champs all match discussion thread

Forget the WR (World Rugby) highlights. Total rubbish.wbout half of the Aus/Georgia game feature in the ref more than the actual play.

He might be talking about all 6 games combined. And even then it probably would sit somewhere between the Force and the Rebels crowds.

The Tahs as poor as they were this season average over 12k. I watched the Easts/Wicks game yesterday. A rivalry game I'm familiar with on a personal level. As fierce as any. For that level the crowd was good. But at best a couple of thousand.

Last summer saw FTA averages of around 1.3m for Tests and 500k for the BBL. So combined you're looking at somewhere in the vicinity of 1.6m for Tests and 700k for BBL. Like I said before numbers any other league that isn't the AFL/NRL would be crowing about.

No. Never said it did. From what I can tell it gets about 40% of the national teams average sitting at around 500k a night. But that's the thing. It doesn't need to match the national team. What it is designed to do is keep Cricket front and centre throughout the summer and it does that fairly...

Not quite. The Pro 12/14 did this. But since the league moved to include SA teams and rebranded to the URC there's been an effort to build the leagues profile and branding. Now considering the economies in which it operates that may be a more difficult proposition than many assumed it still...

A nice little sideshow that averaged over 20k last season and drew in TV audiences we'd kill for. People like to disregard it as a sideshow but it rates better than any other league in the country that isn't the NRL or AFL. And the whole Rugby is like Cricket thing doesn't work in that there's...

    Waratahs 2025

His wife is American isn't she? I remember something about that when he returned to the Tahs. So the US seems a solid possibility.

    Not back to Super 12.

Well, I've thought that it has needed reimagining for a very long time.

Even if the projected earnings is just the 2003 earnings adjusted for inflation considering the current cash strapped position of RA that is still a net positive.

They offered overs on the required guarantee which was £120m. Paying £150m. Also took the rights to the operational costs in partnership with Societe Generale for around £236m. I suspect a lot of the the profit generated went to covering that. The fee to host the event has been guaranteed by the...

    Northern Hemisphere Rugby

For all the doom and gloom about the Premiership recently they've released some numbers. The final returned 1.26m views on ITV which was the highest rating final on the channel. Overall viewership increase 8% on TNT Sports and 3% on ITV (noting that there were only a handful of games actually...

It's partly why I don't support the idea of the clubs making up a professional domestic competition. I can see them forming a largely east coast 'domestic' competition based largely off RA covering the costs of travel etc. but the squads remaining largely the same but not anything full time...

    Australian Rugby / RA

I've supported a domestic comp not because I wanted to cut NZ out but because being the bigger market I've long wanted more emphasis placed on catering to it. People talk about SA Rugby money which is largely accurate but what no one ever wanted to acknowledge was that if they got the mic right...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

May be. What I do know is that they moved it back as a means of creating a reserve grade that runs alongside the NRLW. Much to the chagrin of many of the current NRLW players who used it as a lead in to the competition. Back to Rugby.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

They actually don't. At least not anymore as there was a movement to align more with NRLW clubs.

Apparently England rotated their squad and the majority of their starter were on the bench. Still. Pretty strong result regardless.

More that I was surprised they were what they were.
