    Women's Rugby

I don't really care on whether it's international or domestic. The key factor is what's it worth to the bottom line of the women's game in regards to talent development and retention. I know. It's not great to immediately go to the $ of it all but we kind of have to.

    Women's Rugby

Well, hopefully the sponsorship Reg has alluded to will help. It's not the 7s or Wallaroos level players I think hold the most danger. It's the level below that. The recent funding announcement alongside as you suggest some kind of employment opportunities make us very competitive with the NRLW...

    Women's Rugby

Agreed. Still glad the got such a crowd. And it wasn't just the early arrivals for the men's game. The crowd was very good from the start. As for a SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) Womens. I'd say they have to sort it now. I have a little inside knowledge of how things worked when the Tigers, Sharks and Canberra etc...

    Women's Rugby

Sadly it probably going to be down hill from here with the NRLW expanding to 12 teams from next year and with a shrinking talent player it's a solid bet that they'll look at Rugby to fill the gaps. Plenty of the women in the comp already have Rugby experience. If they were serious they'd at the...

    Women's Rugby

That and it would likely delay the Drua/Canes game to follow.

    Really enjoyed that.

    Would be a sight.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

The first edition is supposed to feature a team from Korea, Hong Kong, Japan and Malaysia. So sort of more East/South East Asia oriented. Personally, if they are looking at expanding the competitive opportunities in Asia then they should look to expand the Asian Rugby Championship to 6 or so...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

If Asia gets a spot then it's Hong Kong's to lose. Very little question about it in my mind. Korea are the only team likely to compete but would require a massive improvement on last season to do it. Which I don't see coming at least before 2027 qualifying comes round. What is needed for other...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Hey, if it gets even half as popular as Squid Game then I'd call it a huge success.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Netflix Korea will be producing a series on Rugby called 'The Strongest Rugby : Win or Die' which seems a bit dramatic for a title but apparently it will be in the same format as similarly titled Soccer and Baseball version. There's also a K-Drama being developed with the game as it's backdrop...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Sounds like a mid winter game in Bowral.

    Northern Hemisphere Rugby

Apparently a team from Spain is being considered for entry into the Challenge Cup following the successful inclusion of the Black Lions.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

If SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) went to a double round robin format that would more than make up for the loss in content.

    Northern Hemisphere Rugby

A professional women league has been announced for 2025 in the US. Women's Elite Rugby is the name it seems to be going with. Looks to be built off the Women's Premier League teams which have been around for a while. Six to 8 teams for year one is the goal. There's already 7 WPLs.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

It is a sport in private schools. Just not GPS(NSW and Qld)/CAS/ISA/TAS/AIC schools. Who make up a tiny percentage of those schools. St Greg's plays in both the ISA for Rugby and Metro Catholic Schools for League. The MCS was at least in my days loaded with future NRL players. Probably still is.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Basketball Australia claim 1.3m people play basketball in Australia. Which would be rubbery at best.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Well, they're not attending much at present. Couldn't be much worse. Not trying to be negative. Hope this pulls through as I don't want to see the Rebels and by extension the Vic Rugby community cut and lost for good.

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

Be interesting to see if Scotland can make it back to the JWC.
