    Brumbies 2024

The Brumbies catchment area includes much of the Riverina region and the NSW South Coast. I think it might even extend some distance along the Southern Highlands ( Goulburn to Bowral sort of thing). They have been taking trial matches to Wagga and Albury in recent years as Whitefalcon mentioned...

    Wallabies v Georgia 20 July - Allianz Stadium 3.45PM

I would have no issue at all if Schmidt elects to start Liam Wright again - he really should if fit - nor if he puts Rob Leota on the bench if he's fit. But it's interesting to compare Rob L against Charlie Cale. Rob is 3 or 4 years older and more experienced, 5kg heavier and a couple of cm...

    Wallabies v Georgia 20 July - Allianz Stadium 3.45PM

The brilliant combination that took the Force to the Super Rugby championship this year. Come off it. We know exactly how those three play and it's not at test match level. White is not as good as McDermott or Gordon these days and Stewart is just Super Rugby level. Donaldson needs to play with the best...

    Wallabies v Georgia 20 July - Allianz Stadium 3.45PM

Changes I'd like to see are : i) swap the starting and bench front rows. Maybe substitute Pollard for Nasser. ii) bring Smith into the second row to partner LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) and have Canham (I know he's not in the squad) on the bench. iii) L Wright returns to 6 with Rob Valetini moving back to 8. Cale on...

Were he still around, Aaron Smith would have tapped and run every day of the week.

    Reds v Wales, Suncorp Stadium - 19/7

I think Canham would be the ideal type of Lock to bolster the Wallabies right now. He is a tower of strength at the lineout, tackles like he wants to hurt the runner, hits the breakdown, is capable of breaking the line with his carries and most importantly can disrupt an opposing maul. There are...

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

Ikitau is needed at 13 where he runs the defensive line as well as getting ball to his wingers when the opportunity is there. I do think those opportunities are fairly severely limited with Paisami at 12. Rather than shift Lenny, how would Flook go at 12? He is a good defender, can make inroads...

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

Charlie Cale's stats are impressive. In around 60 minutes (was it?) he made more tackles than Rob Valetini and very likely proportionally as many runs with good but about half of Valetini's metres gained. With his lineout steal and generally playing tight rather than in the wider channels he did...

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

Poor lineout tonight, inadequate maul defence and lack of penetration by either of Williams and LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) demand some changes to the second row. I think any of Smith, Holloway or Swain would give us a bit more command of the lineout and maul. Pity Smith has been released from the squad and the others...

    All Blacks Non-Bledisloe Matches 2024

Beauden Barrett was very good off the bench, but so was Ratima. The whole attack started to go forward the moment he first got his hands on the ball. Much better service to his backs.

I hope you're right about Angus KOB. He was part of the best development system in the country, and I have high hopes for him in future. IMO, he could have reached the dizzy heights of Super and above right here.

If Cale is replaced who is the third lineout option. Does Gleeson jump? I don’t recall him being used by the Tahs. Valetini jumps infrequently for the Brumbies but would he be considered for the job in a test match?

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

I am hopeful the game plan v 2 will allow for a bit more expansive play out wide. Not so much that Wales will expect it and be ready in defence, but just spasmodically to get some good play out of our wider runners.

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

That's probably true G but there will be a difference, I think, in the way Cale plays to the way Liam Wright plays. I hope we get to see a bit more attack out wide with Charlie in the side.

This was the change I was hoping for in this test. If Nic can curb his impulse to box kick on every possession and instead feed his backline a bit, they could be the best attacking 9/10 combination in the squad.

So, the consensus seems to be that Joe is still getting to know the three No10s in the squad and is therefore likely to rotate them until he settles on the favoured combination of starter and benchie. Wonder if that will mean rotating No9s at the same time?

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

I'm confused, Donaldson plays flat at the advantage line while also playing deeper than the other two. Which is it? Or is it both? Does he vary his game more than the other two perhaps playing what's in front of him? One thing I'm confident of is that he breaks the defensive line more frequently...

Agree, so start with Noah and have Donaldson on the bench this week.
