I could maybe believe a season on season decline this year, but that would be more likely due to an initial post covid bump followed by a return to stability than people choosing stan over attending the games.

    Refereeing decisions

Wayne Barnes has come out in support of the 20 minute red card: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/rugby-union/2024/10/31/wayne-barnes-20-minute-red-cards-referees-how-work/

No, Nine has not valued the individual components, RA has. The article says this (may have since been updated?): So all it really means is that RA is offering the Shute Shield clubs $480k for 114 matches (~$4.2k per game). Beyond that I really don't think we can infer a linear relationship...

Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

I remain very unconvinced by Gamble as a pure 7 at test match level. He's competing with McReight, Tizzano and Reimer who have shown more than him in that role and are all younger. Wilkin I think offers a bit more variety as a lineout forward and general back row cover in very much the same...

Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

I don't want to burst the bubble too much - Wilkin would be a big upgrade on Gamble for the tahs (and much more importantly Aus Rugby), but we might need to wait for an announcement. Does at least seem like he's hanging around in Australia at the moment though.

Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

I'm not sure how accurate that article is - it also has Pone Fa’amausili to the tahs when he has signed with Moana.

    Lions Tour 2025

There was a limited release for the tests last year with some reserved for a ballot. Pretty sure there should still be a ballot for every test though.

Interesting membership offering from the Reds this year - $50 for a "global membership": https://x.com/FreemanrugbyJPN/status/1851778428137332907?t=hALm-k2NCcw-GBTyBWNkhw&s=19 Nets you a cap and access to open training sessions on their Japan and UK/Ireland tours.

Those quotes are about super rugby being different from test rugby as a whole, one of them specifically references all of the teams. They don't discount the similarities in style and communication between Schmidt and Kiss. Just to be clear here, I'm not saying Les Kiss should take over from...

I think the main thing that has Kiss ahead of Larkham and McKellar (who have similar levels of success but less experience) is that he's seen as something of a continuity candidate - he has significant international coaching experience with Schmidt and can theoretically come in and build on...

    Western Force 2025

The problem isn't our top flight guys, who absolutely play enough rugby (and too much in some cases), it's the guys coming through the ranks, sitting just outside the best 15/23 for most sides. They're spending a few seasons playing 1-5 games as they're coming up, or only getting 5-10 minute...

They'd earn something like an extra 100k each playing league for a 3-4 month stint, and it doesn't clash with 7s.

Tom Robertson out with a calf injury, Zane Nonggorr to the top squad. No word on a call up to the Australia XV yet.

Bit more detail on the roar: https://www.theroar.com.au/2024/10/29/exclusive-rugby-australia-plot-new-third-tier-competition-involving-super-teams/ So a single round, 4-5 week comp, running in the October window after the club seasons have finished.

Yeah, world cup was last year's and eoyt will be next year's. Probably Valetini given the other two both missed games, but interesting to see no one outside of the back row crack the short list.
