Western Force 2025

The players each franchise would make available aren't going to be a whole lot better than the best of clubland.

A great example is Matt Faessler who was picked by the Reds out of the COVID bubble club players. He's now the starting Wallabies hooker and wasn't even in a Super Rugby squad when he made his debut for the Reds.
I think the problem with this is that they aren't getting professional training every week. They can't train together as they aren't in the same location. I think guys packing down during the week in a super squad and then playing club on the weekend are far better prepared.

Why would they go offshore? What happened to next man up mentality and having faith in the feeder/ development programs in Australia?
Cron Addressed this last year when questioned about some of the medical cover recruits. Some club guys cant move as they have fulltime jobs and he also said that promoting guys from academy before they are ready can cause serious injury which is no good for the player or the team.

They have brought academy guys through before when they were ready which is where Marley Pearce is from.

Bringing props who aren't ready for that next level and pressure of physicality is just not worth it.

For example Jack Barrett at the tahs last year.

Putting the ball down with one hand was more a slight critique on the try. Still a cracker and couldn’t see Noah, Lynagh or Edmed pulling off a 70m sprint with a sore ankle to win the game. Although you’ve been quoted as saying Donno is no better than a 4th grader in club footy! Good one old Derps.
Lynagh is quite quick mate. Just needs his hammies to hold up.

Dodgy hammies at a young age is not the thing you need when there’s a chance to put on the pace. Hope he has a good season injury free although I still don’t buy his hype.

Jack played mostly 2nd grade for Randwick with a few off the bench games for Shute Shield
I was referring to this line

While I think Jack will no doubt get there, battle hardened club players would have been a smarter option (which they then went to)

I’m not sure they’re in the dodgy hammies stage, he’s a had an injury there and then some hammy awareness (probably confidence issue). They’re pretty similar players, very quick off the mark and both boot the leather off it. Hopefully, both stay injury free.

He played well. Tackled well… was beaten by a great in and away by Moana’s gun winger not with standing. But hey, that was a great try. Kicked all his goals. Solid first outing.
I agree but calling him quick isn't something I would be doing, his like Noah.

As rumoured, the Force have signed Tom Osborne as injury cover at prop:

Looks like just an injury cover loan from Harlequins for the moment, but he is an Australian, so there's got to be a decent chance he'll stick around if all goes well.

Has a useful bit of experience with a bunch of the team too:
Osborne previously played alongside several current Force members at Sydney University, including Tom Robertson, Harry Potter, Tom Horton, Harry Johnson-Holmes and Nick Champion de Crespigny, for a side who won the Shute Shield in 2018 and 2019.
