It's been suggested before, but we should be looking at this instead of trying to reduce things down into a QLD vs NSW origin style game. First Nations/Pasifika versus "The Rest", much the same as the NRL do with their Indigenous All Stars side would pop off as a product, and could be a very good possibles vs probables style test selection trial at the same time.

Desperately hoping the ground announcers and DJ turn it the fuck down come saturday. Every exhortation for MORE NOISE was met with silence from a great fan base who generally don't need revving up. Music over the top of play etc.

Good outing by the FNP team and yes some players did give a very good acount of themselves, but we need to be careful not to fall into a sense of false hope.
This Lions team was arguably their worst and least cohesive that they have put out and most looked like they were ready to don a suit and sit in the stands for the remainder of the tour. Bar Darcy Graham none really seemed to be trying to step up a level to make a claim for a test spot and had accepted were they were in the pecking order.

It was clearly the second team but I don't know if you can put the overall performance down to them not caring enough. I think it is absolutely true that bench spots are up for grabs in the test team because of how poor the second half was for the Lions in the first test.
It's also very likely that the bottom end of the squad will be sent home now so for a bunch of those guys, this was their last chance to earn the right to wear a suit in the stands and stay on tour versus being told they're no longer required.
I think Darcy Graham was so upset because this was his one and only chance to wear a Lions jersey (regardless of how well he played) and he only lasted 15 minutes.

I think the issue is less that those players have switched off or given up, and much more just that a) a lot of them joined the squad quite late so aren't anywhere near as up to speed and b) this is game is in between two test matches and just won't have had anywhere near the same focus from the coaching staff and playing group as the others.
This is definitely a key point.
Maybe this team had one proper training session and a captain's run for this game.

Think also from last night that level of commitment and heart is something we haven’t seen in a long while the Lions while the somewhat controlled the game the FNP boys won all the effort areas, they were more physical both carrying and defending, better scrum and disrupted the line out well

I agree Tex, it's like they don't want the crowd to talk to each other about the game. As you say good crowds get the chants etc going by themselves. I still reckon one of best I saw was an AB/Wallaby test in Christchurch, Wallabies were ahead, and their supporters in crowd started singing Waltzing Matilda. Was great, and I recall Kearnsie and other Wallaby players saying it was one of best things they heard, Aussies in crowd away from home just singing without prompting etc. He said no way were they losing from there.

FNP didn’t exactly have a lot of time together though so probably counters the shitter lion team
I'm very hesitant to give him any praise but I thought Owen Farrell's interviews both before and after the game were really good.
One other random observation from last night... Michael Hooper is really great in commentary. His story of meeting Toutai Kefu and his admiration for him was really well enunciated.
Also, in relation to Hooper's suggested team/squad changes I also think you need to take it with a grain of salt. He's doing the job of a commentator/pundit now. If he was still playing or was coaching the team I imagine his view would be quite different. It's just not interesting to hear someone explain the difficulties of making lots of changes when you've got very limited time to prepare.
