Not sure about that, but it's kind of amazing that he's never been in the conversation.

Maybe he could pick up a gold jersey with a move to Tahs
he was early on at the Rebels, with the ranga half back. if i recall he was in a wallabies training /persons of interest squad. another god player ruined by Totality Tony if i remeber correctly.

Agreed with this. There's understandably an eagerness by the Stan commentary for the Aus teams to do well on this tour but he's gone over the top - non stop whinging is grating
I agree he's over the top and very bias but he's only reflecting what everyone on the couch is sitting home and thinking. The TMO checking 10 things a game makes for a bad entertainment product, that Reilly YC was legitimately shoulder to shoulder, meanwhile LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) got hit with a blatant second man in shoulder charge and they didnt check it. Lynagh gets crunched in the air in the most cynical fashion and they rule that as 'there were bodies around'? I think people just want consistency, and to let the boys play more often than not.

They especially need to stop slowing down rucks and looking for infringements in clearing potential pilferers, by nature of that position your head is exposed and it's going to have something contact it, it's the nature of the game.

Few thoughts:

- Rebels would've won it easily

- Is the addition of Pete Samu worth a try? I say yes.

- Leota, last ever captain of the Rebels got to score a try in front of his home crowd before leaving for France.

- Always should've been played at AAMI. 30,000 people which is just over AAMI's capacity, so you lose a couple thousand tickets but you have a full house with great images, acoustics, atmosphere.

- Salakaia-Loto definitely can't play this Saturday. He'd be absolutely buggered. Maybe off the bench come Sydney.

- I thought Thomas actually did really well. Good delivery and speed from the ruck in a messy game.

That was fun watching (I did it this morning). Only comments are loved the concept of the In/PI team, great to see more.
Was pissed at first YC to Riley(didn't even think it was a penalty), but full disclosure, I thought the decisions in first test as no cards were right . I not into refs finding some reason to make these things cards.

I tend to agree with this point, my frustration comes from watching a season of Super Rugby where it seems the refs would often talk themselves into a yellow card, only for it to get to Saturday and the same referee talks themselves out of giving yellow cards.

Screen shots don't tell the story, but it does show head contact, an upright tackler, and a fair degree of force

Probably mitigated down by all of the usual reasons (eg potentially indirect contact), but I'm not surprised that was a yellow.

with regard to the YC offence - i assume that regardless of of the wording of the law, any head contact, accidental or otherwise is interpreted as foul play. is that the way all refs / TMO's interpret it? and then mitigation is taken into account, downgrading from red to yellow to pen only to play on?

No.

1st question in the process "Has head contact occurred?"
2nd question in the process "Was there any foul play"

There are lots of situations in our sport where head contact occurs with no foul play

Really depends on the setup around him to be honest (as it does with most coaches). He does have pretty extensive head coaching experience though - 4 years with Kubota, 7 with Tonga.

Not for this thread but I am hearing very strong calls that Zane Hilton will be officially announced as Reds new coach at some point this year so he can have a good handover with Kiss in 2026.
