I was hopeful of View getting it done given what had happened the prior weekend. Sounds like the boys fought valiantly, well done to them.

Well then, read this.
In 1540, God was sitting on his golden throne and looking down upon the earth below. He was not happy with what he saw. The most beloved of all his creations were not praying properly, ignoring the Pope and behaving appallingly. They were lacking a great man to inspire them to be better people. So, instead of finishing the unicorn as promised, he decided to make something that mankind would really need.
While in his work shop one his small cherubs flew by and asked what the Lord was up to. God replied, "Well sweet angel, I am creating a special gift to the people of the world. I will be providing them with an inspirational man who will challenge others around him to be devoted to my son, Jesus. Plus he will instill discipline in the school work of his students, as he will ask for commitment to accepting orders anywhere and to endure any conditions. I am making his order from the finest materials I have and the leaders image will be known across the world. Plus my son has agreed they can use his name"
"My goodness," replied the cherub, "will this gift do anything more?"
"Why of course," said the Lord, "the schools that are created in his name will only inspire the best of wealthy Catholic society. From these schools will come leaders of men and countries, great bishops, captains of industries and they will be the lords of all their domains. Nothing will stop them and they shall rule across all other orders."
"Oh my," said the cherub, "but that sounds a bit dangerous. How will they be kept in line and made humble before you Lord?"
"Good point," replied God. "I didn't think of that." And with that he ventured across the cosmos to ponder his solution.
Finally, he wandered back in his workshop in 1816. This time he was not armed with fine materials, but just simple wood, earth and clay. Not long into the process, the same cherub returned and inquired how the Lord was going.
"I am glad you asked sweet angel. For I have come up with a solution to the problem you raised." The Lord then created a pencil from thin air and started to draw his response on the back of the third tablet that Moses forgot to carry down from Mt Sinai. The one that had, "That shall always pick up the ball and run with it."
God turned his smiling face to the angel and said, "This simple man and his order shall be different to the others. They will be humble, simple brothers. They will tend to the poorest of my people. They will educate the needs of children especially those most neglected. Since it is an enormous task, I have asked my mother to give them a hand as well."
"But Lord," countered the angel, "how will this humble order keep the far superior one in line? I just can't see it?"
"Well," replied the Lord, "it's quite simple. They will beat the Jesuits in rugby at the death, so often, their students will be forever bleating to me that it's not fair"
"'Oh Lord," said the angel, "you can be so cruel sometimes."

Piece of individual brilliance by Ben Dowling down the left edge to kick ahead regather and dot down under the posts right on full time to give Joeys the win at the death. A pile of errors from what I saw of the game which was about the last 60. They seemed slow and struggled to penetrate the view defence but mostly were their own worst enemy. View will be very disappointed - definitely the one that got away.
No, it was the one that was stolen. View should have won this. Joeys were lucky, but hey, its the Marist tradition.

Well today the best game I watched was at 8am. The Mighty View 15B XV v Grammar 15A.
The match was played with incredible skill and Grammar were amazing.
BUT
It was the incredible spirit of the View boys that won it. They threw everything into their defense as wave upon wave of Grammar broke on their line. They scrambled and stood firm, and took their chances when they came.
Then, after the final whistle, I realized the moment was special.
This was George's team, his mates, his brothers.
At the end of the game his parents came onto the field hugged every team member.
It was so emotional, it could bring a tear to a glass eye.
They won it for George and somewhere in heaven a new cherub was smiling down on then.

Agreed No 10 for J had a cracker, and your No. 3 is a complete D8, should have metal tracks. Thought View contained the Marists well most of the game, although a disappointing last 5 minutes. The boys have a lot to be proud of, said it before; Riverview vs Joeys 1sts is always a tough match.
Did anyone else notice that O'Kane was off for the final 20 minutes?

I don't believe that Henry came back on after half time. I think he had an injury or collision just before half time. Riverview did contain him well in the first half.
It was an amazing game. The Riverview defence was exceptional and they were unlucky not to win the game. I thought their No 5 was their best. How often do these games turn on a single play or a single brilliant moment? A mercurial kick and re-gather by Ben Dowling.
Well done to all the boys who played today.

don't think the Cluch video picked it up, but Joeys had arguably their best forward in the bin from the 57 min mark (using the cluch time), and their captain off for the whole of the 2nd half (severely bruised ribs - he could hardly breathe).

Great match by both 1st XV teams and congratulations to Joeys for coming away with the win.
I was impressed with Grammar's 1st XV in the 3rds yesterday. As Brumbies had mentioned, they are a bigger pack than their usual offering. They use the kick and chase well to get through or over the defense.

Yes TME, the 16As was a great match (for View supporters), they won 31-12. The Joeys team were good, but View out played them in the centers and out wide particularly imho. Defense was decent from the whole team.
The difference may have been from Joeys pulling more of their 16As into the opens, but thats just speculation?
They would normally would have had the Jorgenson twins, but they play 10 in the 2nd XV and 13 in the 1st XV. They would very handy to this team. Plus the 1st XV is playing up an age group as well.
