Why the hatred towards rugby league

Having Matty Johns as one of your primary figures says something, though. That bloke has a done a few things..

Hard to reconcile that Matty Johns is put on a pedestal by League but they won’t entertain Israel Folau in the NRL.

If you rule out Israel Folau that is OK it’s your decision how you run your game, but surely if that’s your standard you can’t turn around and accept Matty Johns being associated with your game. It’s double standards of the highest order by the NRL and his current and former employers in MMM Radio and Foxtel.

That is a sweeping generalisation. It might be your personal experience, but that does mean that "rugby union is solely concerned with throwing stones" - it means that this is what you have observed in your interactions.

You would have to have a friendship or at least some kind of relationship with parents, and gradually let them know that you are involved in coaching league. Maybe this is just my experience, but junior league is much more cutthroat and competitive than rugby? This would not appeal to everybody. But the best way to get kids to play another code is for them to have friends who play that code. Not much you can do to foster that.

Competitiveness - Maybe on the beaches? but NSRL is not at all, no teams by grade generally short of numbers (usually only one team per age group and not many teams once kids are all off to private schools at 13 etc) so we would take anyone and give them a good run around.

Thank you for your advice re recruiting, I appreciate it and will keep it in mind.
