Why is Marto employed as a commentator?

The penalty, which led to the PT was for a "whip wheel" from when Skelton stopped pushing and the Oz TH disappears backwards on rollerskates a couple of seconds after this screen shot.

Also Law 20.3 (g)A flanker may bind onto the scrum at any angle, provided the flanker is properly bound.

But I take your point, it would be nice if the commentators had explained (or even knew?) that.

Not to mention the fact that the half put the ball in at 45% - so really should have been a Wallabies FK before most of the other stuff happened.

Marto brings the okka "working class" into the rugby element, Clarke and Kafe are the conventional boys club type, the mix is obviously 101 marketing

Marto on the Rugby is bad enough, on commercial radio with manufactured pop and hundreds of add breaks would be enough to cause me to drive the wrong way into traffic.

Based on that Southern Cross Media looks like it could now be rated a Sell ....but with Jamie Dunn now on board at MMM Bris Vegas Marto could sit on Jamie's knee and reprise the roll of "Agro" .

Marto has spent all week on MMM blowing about his new trackside at the V8's gig (or having one of the co-hosts blow about it), does this mean we'll no longer have to tolerate his droolings on matters rugby-related?

Plenty of "technical infringements" for him to talk about at the V8s

Actually both Gregan and Kearns are poor commentators.

Kearns is all about the Tahs and George is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

Surely there are better options out there - and Marto ain't one of them

All of Australian Rugby's commentators are poor or just average, a good player doesn't necessity make a good commentator... Plenty of examples in the NFL and other codes where there are good commentators with no background of playing the game professionally.
