The code can't support another Super franchise atm.
I'm ok with losing the odd unproven Schoolkid that can earn ridiculous money in league.
I'd actually be more distressed if our code was signing Schoolkids on $270k contracts before they had ever tackled a man.
My view is, the $270k/season is BS. He would not be much more than $50k - $70k/year if he was signed on a S18 Contract first year in.

Without turning it into too much a beauty contest: do you reckon Morea has seen anything more of the world than auckland?

This seems to be a very popular argument! But for the extra money some of the NRL players are making from such young ages, he's got the rest of his lifetime to travel if he wants to. Tom Wright, for example, would probably be out-earning Kellaway after a year or two at Manly. Having said that, some of the Southerners raking in the cash by playing domestically in Europe (specifically France) get the best of both worlds.

But the $270k a year for Moeroa seems very unlikely, I don't have the strongest understand of the NRL's salary cap, but surely it would be foolish to invest so much money into a player that is only slightly proven with zero rep experience (Origin, national etc.)

That is what he is on. There are some good u20s players who are on $80 000 a season. The $$$$ are better but limited opportunities

Nice article for the scrapbook. As far as Picone saying they are future reds is nothing to crow about if you gauge recent performances of said team :0 :0
