Maybe the personal sniping can be binned on all sides?
Finally some sanity in the discussion. Let's stay positive here in this thread boys.
Another thing to ponder as well is if another Australian side is let in as well ala stars that's another 35 potential Australian players extra for the wallabies to choose from if the ARU are actually going to let this happen. Giddy up. Even a negative nelly like you slim couldn't knock that.

I'm all for this to be successful in providing another pathway, and possible placeholder for players/teams prior to a Super Rugby shakeup in 2020.......... and then all the parties, including the ARU, Twiggy, etc. can get together and create something worthwhile for the future. But the childish, loose drunken rants about it taking over Super Rugby/ARU, being splashed over FTA TV and buying up all the best players is simply unrealistic. You mentioned sanity in your first sentence, but there really hasn't been a lot of that involved in discussions lately.

I suppose so, but you're going to get a lot of itchy feet waiting until August or so to re-launch the Force and the new competition - and even then you'd just be setting up a conflict with the NRC. Speaking purely as a Force fan, assuming the set-up is going to be home-and-away fixtures against each team plus a grand final, for an 11-week comp . I wouldn't mind a launch in April, running until July, followed by the Wallabies season and the NRC (in which the Spirit will still hopefully be playing a part. Of course, if the Spirit get cut too, that's probably a moot point).
EDIT: I think this must be the article referred to earlier: http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/ru...n/news-story/070f809d128086133e2a5e8931693bd4 which basically talks about a six or seven week long tournament starting after the Super Rugby season, featuring a few experimental law variations and with a healthy sprinkling of hired guns to give it some profile. Well, I'll take what I can get, and it at least opens up the possibility of some of our existing squad signing contracts with other Super Rugby teams and then making themselves available for the Fortescue Cup or whatever it'll be called.

Seriously, if he is looking to structure the competition like that why not look to supercharge the NRC? I'm serious. Take most of the NRC squads say two NSW and just Brisbane alongside Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Fiji. Add a couple of Japanese clubs, Hong Kong, Singapore and a team from China. Bring in ringers as has been suggested. Split it into two pools of 6 run it over 10 weeks home and away with the top two from each going through to the finals. Total 12 weeks. Hard, fast and entertaining.

If cooperating with the ARU is legitimately on the books then we can look to alter the Super Rugby season to be run and won in before June. Run the RC a little earlier and then let the players move into this competition. Finish it before the Spring tour. Bang.

You are in the minority Slim, most have the vision to see that this is not only possible but likely.
If you don't like my pov and it upsets you, don't read it, ignore me I don't care.
Calling names and suggesting loose drunken rants etc says more about you than anybody else.

WCR totally get what your saying but I think the ARU and wankers behind the scenes would have to experience some severe pain before they'd come to realise it's a great option and relinquish some control. The chance with this comp is employing some great coaches, breaking the playing doldrums we have now and implementing some shit hot initiatives as well without the political bullshit that is still attached to the other comp. Giddy up.

This is my TF song for the day, no lyrics and few have ever heard it.

In another time this would have been a classic.

Called Empire of the Sun by an Austrian group, a cross between Pink Floyd and Garry Moore.

It only has 3 imagines, the first of a vacant seat by a lake, the second a lonely looking railway station on a dark night and the third imagine is a guy standing in front a stream train.

For me its TF empire he is building and like this song he is somewhat unknown and the WF is the lonely one.

Enjoy, BTW it picks up a lot in pace just after the minute mark, Guitar skills to die for a musio mate I sent this to said he is using a Gibson if that means anything.

Enjoy a second time.

Its not just twiggy but anyone who wants to sponsor rugby in Australia. Unfortunately you have to get into bed with ARU (NSWRU,QRU,Clyne, short sightedness, bubble life, etc) Sponsors are walking, Fans are walking, players are walking.

Anyone who asks why Twiggy won't fund the status quo really needs a reality check.

He like many want to see Rugby thrive. Id pick that any day over the ARUs leadership, governance, outlook, problem solving

Oooh, thematic music videos! Can I play too?

I think this one from the Steve Miller Band probably sums up the feeling out west pretty well - the optimism that comes from a great leap into the unknown that Twiggy's provided us. Plus, it's just really great rock and roll:

He could use his money to drive change, the current board is standing down. He should say he wants a position on the board. His money and connections make him hard to ignore

Get a little tired of this rhetoric.. if the Rebels were never included and required bailouts we wouldn't have been in this dire financial position either.. no point dwelling on what could have been, the point is that he is here now and backing the Force, that shouldn't be a cause of criticism for him.
Maybe if the ARU actually had a vision and put the third side in Melbourne in the 90s and then started the Force at the fourth side we would of had a foot hold in the 4 biggest markets in the country

Yeh my assumption is 50M to fuck off Clyne and then there is a chance for change plus no financial threat.

Well we know which way the ARU went. "We are broke, hang on we don't want 50M"

Hard to ignore but still ignored

I still think the easiest way to effect change is from the inside. There is one thing trying to hold the board to ransom and another being on the board
