The other franchises strangely overlooked them too. Maybe they're all hopeless? At the time, I struggle to recall a lot of people hollering for Malone in the Tahs, and maybe a few more for Parks.

As I said earlier, hindsight is generously over-applied whenever "the ones that got away" gets aired.

Mike Ala'alatoa? Does anyone know if he was "overlooked" or just thought an offer from the Crusaders was a far better temptation? Maybe he's more interested in being an All Black? Potentially.

Digby Ioane? Now? I'm sorry but I can't see where he obviously displaces a bunch of wingers with his history of injuries.

There will always be good players from NSW that end up going elsewhere, and some will go on to greater heights. So be it. I'm sure mistakes have been made, but it's easy to pick the ones that succeeded and say "I told you so" (not that you are specifically saying that here).

The difficulty is not that some talented players leave when there are too many options in front of them that are performing. It is when players are not identified or removed consideration erroneously (and there is the debatable point) when depth is an issue in their position. My examples of Malone and Parkes were not that they went or that they were not identified. They were not wanted, and no fans were calling for their selection because they were rightly seen as more conservative kicking based 10s. My argument is more around the systems that select a side holistically and consider that Halangahu and Manny Edmonds were selected as a "Running" 10s because that is what the Tahs had to have to keep the fans, but under Link and then Foley/Hickey they played a largely conservative game plan. Would not the talents of Malone and Parkes have been better suited for the play the Tahs adopted?

Then there are other arguments like Elsom v Mowen

why is there wine in what appears to be their reception area and apparently on display as if for sale?
don't tell me they have had to liquidate the cellar.

Side gig.

Had to raise some money somehow. Did you see the state of that leather couch? My cat wouldn't sleep on it.

"Our Receptionist is on stress leave following a 'highly unfortunate recent incident' involving B Papworth, A Jones and a prominent ARU board member that occurred in her immediate vicinity."

I'm stressed at the thought of that.

You need to write a comedy series, a la The Games on the ARU

Blows my mind A league is outstripping Super rugby for popularity. Both these teams would lose to a 5th division Scottish side. Terrible, terrible stuff.

Decided to read the thread an am amazed at how everyone is coming to the same conclusions I have been saying for years. Maybe there is hope after all.

Twoilms post above well last nights ratings on Fox say nay SCREAM for a National Domestic Competition. Twoilms beaten by Scottish 5 division teams maybe over the top but he is right when you think where the A-League sits among the various FIFA countries playing.

Last night the extra time ratings where 460K. To give some comparison, only 2 AFL matches and 1 NRL match last year pulled more viewers on Fox. SBS extra time ratings 258 K remember on a one hour delay when the match was also streamed. the main match 367K on Fox with a peak of 553K

Australians essentially separate Football type codes between domestic and international. AFL has none but league, union and soccer do. Basketball and netball the same.

Weathered couch look has always gone done big with Mosman-based CEOs and Chairpersons*.

Not sure why.

(*Note compliance with new gender neutrality codes also applies to all ARU-related references.)
