Seriously. Rebels are in because they didn't sell to the ARU. Force out because they did. No backdoor, just poor business sense.

No the Rebels are in because the ARU didn't buy their licence when it was for sale to them.
This was because they were being protected certainly by Rob Clarke and probably by Clyne.
This protection extended to, later on, of providing a copy of the Force/ARU highly confidential Alliance Agreement to the Rebels. A fact Tim North refuses to deny now but admitted earlier.
Good luck to the Rebs, they survived. But it was not due to cleverness or good business sense or even luck, they were protected by the above.
No surprise Clarke is now working for the Rebels.

Now that the ever burdening on the coffers Force has been cut does that mean that some of you fair weather supporters are get back to watching your sides live or still sit here and complain how crowds are dying etc. one thing 2018/19 will certainly prove is that the Force and the west certainly weren't the issue. No more hiding behind veiled excuses any more boys! If you so called supporters in the heartland love your rugby then get off your backsides and turn up and support your sides.

Think you might be speaking to the wrong crowd when referecing "fair weather fans", like, the least qualified group of people in Australia and abroad to fit that label.

That's it, attack the fans of teams who were sympathising with the Force and criticising the ARU for what they've done..

I'm gonna say it, and probably get slammed for it,

I want the Rebels to go like shit next year
I hope that no Force player signs with them
I especially hope that Wessels doesn't move to them
I hope that they still continue to suck the ARU dry

I don't have anything against the team per se but I do want to see the ARU brought to its knees and crippled. And for the ARU to admit it made a mistake.

Selfish, childish attitude, yes I know. But no worse than the attitude of the ARU

Can understand opinions like this as feelings for Force fans would be raw and justifiably so. But I am at opposite end of spectrum. As rebels and the force were in the fight for survival and I don't see they did anything wrong by the force. So I actually hope they do very well next year as I would have hoped the same for the force if the rebels were cut instead. Now like most we hope tf provides a great new competition for the force to play in that puts them in an even better long term position. As let's face it super rugby is a dying product and the force being cut might yet prove to be a blessing for you guys.

Laurie Fisher was talking about Australian rugby, says the development system has fallen off of its arse, used the Brumbies as an example and said how they no longer have their academy system, all Super Rugby teams are the same

Except for the Force who have a fully funded academy in the Future Force which has produced many local players including a wallaby.

I understand that some of the Force fans are bitter. I was bitter when Melbourne lost out for the 4th rugby team. I was also bitter when we had 1 year of the ARC and then the ARU closed it and told Melbourne to #$@* off. I didn't hate the Force though. I just didn't give a stuff about SuperRugby in any form. The way things are going, I'd be stunned to see SuperRugby continue in the next broadcast agreement - it is so damaged goods. Hopefully Twiggyrugby is successful and he and the ARU can work together to create something that will eventually replace it.

.

The only person who has gone on public record on this is the guy who could have sold it to the ARU and he has said it wasn't for sale to them.

The bagging of the Rebels from WA including all the crap that was flung during the period where both teams were on the block is giving me the shits. Rebels may be the beneficiary but we're not your enemy.

I'd probably go with pure luck. The Force decided to go with the ARU to assist with the movement towards centralisation and for some reason the ARU was ridiculously committed to having a private owner for the Rebels. The Force were clearly screwed. That doesn't mean I think the Rebels should have been canned but the process was extremely flawed and seemed to just boil down to "lets cut the team that trusted us a couple of years ago to do right by them". Of course trusting a banker wasn't probably the best idea ever.

The Rebels are still there because it was easier and cheaper to cut the Force. Not due to "protection"

No, the Force does have its own academy. As far as I know it is still running because it has nothing to do with the ARU.
As Gaffachino said.

If the ARU could have cut the Rebels, they would have, and kept the Force in. There is not a single Rebels supporter who doesn't know that, and is eternally grateful to Andrew Cox for remaining true to his word, and the VRU for moving heaven and earth.

But they couldn't cut us, because of that dang piece of paper that made all the difference. So here we are, making shit up about who said what to who, and treating as the truth.

Not saying the Force, Rebels or (and especially) ARU managers are snowy white in all this at all.

As Gaffachino said.

And The Whole Force is just about to donate another $1,000 towards it. :) it's not just the top end of town that are putting their money towards the future of rugby in WA. :)

Geez you take things personal tocc. Maybe I was talking about all the other fans that openly admit around here they don't go to watch their soup sides but openly whinge about the product, system, yards yada but do jack about it.

RWA and the Force made a critical and now fatal error in linking formally with the ARU and placing any trust in the ability of the ARU to do anything properly and/or to act in good faith.

Pulver said the alliance will be managed effectively in order to maintain the Western Force’s unique identity and connection to the local community.
“The other really important outcome is that the Western Force will continue to be deeply entrenched in the Perth community. They will continue to have a brand which is unique to them.”
Under the alliance Western Force players and professional Rugby staff will become ARU employees.
Pulver added: “From an Australian Rugby point of view, it’s not only essential that we continue to support RugbyWA and the Western Force but to ensure the game remains strong at the community level in Western Australia and that the Super Rugby team is given the best opportunity to succeed.
“It is our absolute priority at all times to act with the best interests of Australian Rugby as a whole and to protect the long term health and prosperity of the game in Australia.
“It has been well documented that Australian Rugby has faced financial challenges in recent years and a range of measures were taken to ensure it remained sustainable. A significant new broadcast agreement has relieved pressure on the game but it must remain vigilant in the face of a challenging sporting landscape in Australia.”

How is it easier and cheaper, they are going to get killed and or lose control of rugby in Aus. I bet if they could they would change what they did, the Rebels would have just died quietly, their support and passion is small.

Just another self interest decision by Clyne which shows he has the macro skills of a gnat. He out manoeuvred himself then and now it is TF who doing it to him.
If he had any kind of macro skills and risk minimisation skills he would have grabbed Cox's licence to ensure they maintained control of the situation.
They didn't know if the Alliance agreement would hold or not in court.
But they didn't because he and Clarke were emotionally invested in the Rebels. That was the only option they could countenance, no macro vision.
Cox was even told he was safe before the announcement.
They didn't buy the licence when Cox was willing to sell it to them.
They then assisted the Rebels along the entire path facilitating the licence transfer. Pretending all along they were unaware even though the signed paperwork says otherwise.
They even gave the Rebels a copy of the Force Alliance agreement which was strictly confidential.
Tim North (VRU) now refuses to deny they were given it even though previously he has admitted to it, can't bring himself to outright deny it being a barrister, the risk is too high.
The whole process has been completely compromised from the start by Clyne, Clarke and now it seems North whose integrity seems to now be hanging by a thread.
At the end of the day they survived, good luck to them, but only because they were protected.
