All is forgiven. The ARU Board are freakin' geniuses. there's no crisis this has been one brilliant staged ploy to nationalise the game.
How could we have been so blind?
We're gonna gonski rugby!

Make them think we are weak, and when we look like we're at our weakest, we strike!! MUAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

You know what will happen for the aru now. The rebels will beat the reds moving them upto 3rd in the conference, then pressure will apply on the force. The force will then be the first aus team to beat a kiwi side to move up the table. Haha

It can't be that far off a vote of no confidence.

So if the ARU are potentially at war with the two franchises and positions are now entrenched on all sides, what are their options? It seems to be risk of legal action from one or more of the Force, Rebels or SANZAAR. It seems they're now buggered whichever option they choose.

I like to think I know a bit about strategy, but I honestly don't know what I'd do if I were them now. What do others think?

One way to neutralise one of the threats of legal action is to buy them out. Don't think Force are in it for the money, which only leaves Cox, what do ya reckon? Would he sell for $5-6 m?? Maybe.

yes and also eliminates the risk that Mr Cox may walk in a couple of years if the losses/cost are too high making the ARU look even more stupid.

Lo and Behold

Things are looking up.

There's to be a 'coaches summit' 'within the next month' hosted by the ARU HPU.

They believe the problems of the Aus Super teams can be fixed 'reasonably quickly'.

Jones and Macqueen not invited this time round 'as they'd want air time.' So maybe later.
Yes positive as clearly a coaching crisis and first thing needed to fix a problem is to acknowledge their is a problem.

First positive seen in a while. Dick marks involvement is good.

Cox has said he will not sell if the intended purpose is to wind them up. As for turning his back, that's a hypothetical to the extreme. That's basically the same as saying not backing the rebels will send a bad symbol to potential future investors or what would happen if the force bleed money, will they continue to ask fans to fork out $1000 every few years. Or the reported government $2mil backing per season, what happens if change of government wanting to tighten the budget strings? All hypotheticals. Let's hope all parties end with a positive result and the game is pushed into the right direction.

They've never had a strategy before, what makes you think that they have one now?

They will reactively lurch from one crisis to another with a sequence of poorly thought out, sometimes contradictory decsions in between. And then there'll be the non-decisions as well.

Billy P has all the bad characteristics of both David Brent & Jim Hacker....

That's assuming he's still with the organisation, when's the last time he's been heard from?

I'm laughing just as much as everyone, but my question is genuine: if you were Pulver and Clyne what would you be doing at this juncture? I know we've got our ideas (and in some cases 20/20 hindsight), but say you were walked into the ARU head office next Monday morning. What would you do to deal with this mess?

1. Negotiate generous severance package.
2. Not do anything until I was sacked.

Much like Pulver is doing now. I feel his pain, bet he thought he'd be kicking back on a beach in Hawaii by now and is as shocked as the rest of us he still has a job.

ARU logic, "We didn't invite them cos they would want to be heard, which is understandable given their past successes, so we invited some other guys instead..."

Yep, we could also bring Black & White TV back cause it was a success. Video rentals shops were also successful so how we get the CEO's back to talk about running a successful business?

FFS, rugby in this country is already stuck in a time warp do we need to keep living in the past?
