Oh fuck me dead - announce a 'forthcoming process to determine which team will be cut'.

Is there no limit to their institutional idiocy and appalling judgement?

Pandaram still writing confidently tonight that the decision is already made to cut the Force.
I am just angry and disillusioned. A former tahs supporter who won't go to any live games if they cut an oz team as will just cut my losses then support the terminal and inevitable decline of professional rugby in this country.

Bill pulver and rest of aru board should hang their heads in shame for this appalling lack of long term vision for professional rugby in this country.

Rugby has failed in this country due to lack of any strategic leadership since becoming professional.

I really struggle to see the force staying in. I wish it not but we will Get shafted. This Comp is suppose to be Australia south Africa and new Zealand. We bring in 2 other country's and it goes to shit but instead of getting rid of the problem we just get rid of an aussie team and 2 SA teams. Fucking get real.

Can we all at least agree on a baseline of solidarity and a giant middle finger to the real enemies, the ARU and SANZAAR?

Some hearts are about to be broken and the worst thing that *this* community could do is have its members turn on each other and advocate in favour of one team being chopped.

Keep a lid on that poison please.

I have been saying that for the better part of 15 years.

And now this peach from rugby.com.au:

"......In the Rebels' favour, crucially, is the security of private ownership, with finances believed to be a major criteria in the decision to reshape the Australian franchises......"

If all we know regarding the so-called privatisation of the Rebels is a workable definition of 'the security of private ownership' (namely, you have to continue pumping vast $ subsidies in for many years) and that is the ARU's new benchmark for its State RU funding policy.................then god help us.

I blame John "Darth John" O'Neill

In short we're dealing with a management legacy issue that started 20 years ago and has been feeding irrationally off its own hubris and misjudgement of the "new media" that emanated back in the 90's

Over ambitious expansion in taking on AFL and League with a Pop Gun whereas the South Africans have their own affirmative action selection issues happening

And ultimately ....the money is not there when "the product" is spread too thin and you are trying to make a chicken salad out of chicken shit

And watching the Reds v Brumbies last night highlighted the issue . The appalling lack of skill execution in catch -pass and basic attacking and defensive structures is seriously disappointing .

There is a superficiality is Management of the game that has permeated through that at the coal face can't even get basic shit right.

That's why all our teams are the Lloyd Christmases to the Kiwi Team's Seabasses

The Kiwi Teams spend at least 30 minutes a session doing nothing but skill work.

Australian Teams can talk as much shit as they want but it is evident , especially in the last 3 to 5 years , our skill level compared to the Kiwi Teams has declined significantly and this is reflected in the mushrooming of winning margins

Hope I'm not breaching protocol here but this bloke's post is gold!

"Every announcement that is supposedly bringing the truth is just another kicking of the can down the road.

Tomorrow: ARU say they'll consult on the decision.

May: ARU announce a committee called "Securing the Future of Australian Rugby" to decide a bunch of things including which team gets cut.

June: The ARU committee releases an interim report with no suggestions about what team to cut but asks everyone to put in their views.

July: The ARU tweet a big press conference is coming. Everyone gears up for the announcement but it's just Pocock telling everyone about the new species of tree he's adopted.

August: Someone on the ARU committee gets drunk in a corporate box and lets slip which team is being cut. The next day, the ARU pull out all stops to deny a decision is made.

September: Greg Growden and Spiro Zavros have collectively written over 1 000 000 words about how much they hate the ARU.

Sometime between October and February 2018: The ARU actually announce something and it gets immediately tied up in legal action because sponsorship arrangements were already sorted out for that season."

Actually, the penny has just now dropped:

With both the Force and the Rebels heavily inferring they might sue the ARU if indeed they are cut, this farcical ARU 'process to determine which franchise is to be cut' is a of course solely a creature of the ARU's laughable timidity and is a tactical policy dreamt up by its legal department to minimise the chance of successful litigation against it once the decision is announced. 'A considered process of review' implies no pre-judgement and an 'objective, carefully weighed approach'.

That then is offered up in the ARU's defence if sued by a bundle of Force supporters, or the Rebels owners.

I'll bet this is it.
