Yeh that is my speculative guess on this too Kobe ie participating in super rugby as interim measure while sort out PE investment for domestic competition. Whether this would be in addition to or replace super rugby involvement is other mute point.
I'm sorry, I simply don't see any evidence that this is the thinking of the RA come 2024. They have just signed upto Super Rugby Pacific, do you then just dump that in 2024, what happens to the Drua or Pacifica.
Its quite clear what the RA strategy is a Lions tour followed by the World cup in 27 to bring the bank balance back to a reasonable level.
You keep hinting that PE talks are going on behind closde doors regards a domestic comp setup, but I have yet to hear a single shred of rumour or slip of the tongue hinting that this is even being considered.
Australian rugby is fundamently flawed by having 5 domestic teams, simply not enough to form a genuine domestic competition.
Don't get me wrong I wish it would happen, but we simply wasted 20 years of Super rugby (ridiculous take over the world strategy). But the RA have shown no desire to pursue a domestic strategy, they hardly even acknowledge the success of the AU comp over the last 2 years.
The world cup suits the thinking of the top down strategy, lots of Red wine dinners with cash rolling in, followed by promises of money for the poor.
