Sooooo .

Considering his startling lack of popularity perhaps they should keep that photo under wraps.

So the Rams season pass costs $55, yet an adult ticket to a single game is $25. Big discount to get the pass.

From what I can see most of the other teams have season passes around the same level but single game entry is $15 for adults ($12 concession). $25 is a little high in my opinion.

The Vikings are selling their season ticket for just $30!

Nevertheless I think $55 is a great deal for 4 games of rugby. And actually if you get at least 4 season passes you can get them at 'mates rates' for $41.25 each. Hopefully there's at least a couple of thousand people who get them!

I think the #GetRammed tag is great. Anyone offended by that is being ridiculous.

I don't see the problem with the Abbott pic either. It's a picture of him blowing on a phallus like object. It's funny!

Plus, Abbott is clearly a Rays man.

Some Ram's fans are being ridiculous, a silly photo of Australia's current prime minister (liked or disliked) posted on a facebook page is nothing but a throw away piece of fan engagement content. Meant to stimulate small talk and keep the rams in your social media feed.

I invoke the rule of the 'vocal minority'. But, if their views are an accurate representation of the Ram's supporter base, I feel bad for those who have to attend games.

fan engagement

The "fan engagement" strategy appears to be flawed judging by the reaction of the fans.

I see they have fixed some of the errors on their website so that is a plus. I was always a fan of spelling players' names correctly. On the subject of the website, I had been hoping to learn some more about the investor consortium - if the Rams (or is it RAMS officially?) are monitoring GAGR I wonder if they could consider a short article on the members of the consortium to help the fans engage more fully with the club/franchise/consortium/whateverthisthingis.

Well, I must say one thing that rugby fans in Greater Sydney are doing better than anyone else: bitching.

Must have been all the practice they got over the years from bitching about rugby ignoring the west altogether.

Now they're bitching because rugby is IN the west, but not in the precise fashion they'd like.

My advice to anyone who isn't right behind this, and not at anyone in particular: support the fucking Stars if it bothers any of you that much.

Perhaps, but if said fans compare their PM to Hitler or threaten to boycott the team based on a nothing photo snap, what kind of fans are they and how do you engage with them?

Exactly, it's important to realise if you're a fan and you get something you want, don't sweat the details.

If you're details obsessed, maybe you should work your ass off to get involved in the business/playing/coaching side of rugby then actively affect it.

I don't disagree with your commentary about the Hitler post although my take on that post was that it was an attempt to get to the Godwin's Law joke before anyone else. Still, not required.

I can't comment on how to engage with fans. However I think that the Rams certainly seem to be going for an "edgy" profile. I'd have thought that will attract some people and turn some others away. Still, it's their business and, presumably, their money.

I suspect this is aimed at me. If so, I am grateful for your advice. I shall file it under "Important".

The Hilter post is the worst but many of the comments are a special kind of silly.
Yeah I don't really get this edgy thing they're going for either, particularly seeing as that brand profile would probably better fit the Rays. Their media manager looks very out of place in the rugby world, but it's possible that she's a rugby tragic and you can't judge a book by its cover.

Nope, that's more than a little narcissistic.

I can tell you that they're media team didn't have any involvement in rugby until this came along. Mungo fans.

I'm not complaining about the content, but complaining about their skills in bringing engagement about. Whether you like it or not this is demonstrative of a lack of understanding of the market and their responses are amateur at best. It puts the idea of the rams at risk of failure which would never be a good thing.

But as I always say, it could just be bitterness.

This is a good thing! The Rams can't represent the rugby establishment. It needs to be more diverse and inclusive to have any chance in western sydney.

They're not being more diverse, it's trying to be 'edgy'. It looks like it's being run by someone with experience as a nightclub promoter to be honest.
It doesn't help that their media manager puts her face on everything, which is strange seeing as she has no rugby clout and I have seen no sports teams run this way, including the Rebels who have a media manager who actually has a presence as a rugby personality.

Maybe the thinking is that a cute young woman combined with some sexual innuendo is the best modus operandi.

I certainly agree with your sentiment that it sounds more like a nightclub promoter than anything else.

I see their logic, but it seems like wrong place, wrong time.
Sure, have a cute woman doing interviews in your videos, but having her face over almost every tweet or fb post is a bit much. There's no shortage of photos of pretty women online, I read about rugby to read about rugby and when I want eye candy I go elsewhere, you know?
Not to mention, and this is a the main point, it's just not on brand.

Spot on. Why does this Twitter account feel like an outlet for this woman's selfies?

Plus F*@king one.

I have a gut feeling Nicole Hash is directly behind the new, second slogan. Which 4 out 5 statements that make sense.

Like seriously... what does being pretty got to do with rugby...

NOTHING! ( Also brighter doesn't sit well with me... it should have been smarter but I'm not trying to nit pick yet.)

I don't care if the player has no nose, if he is the best player for the position put him on the field...

Lordvoldemort.jpg

I'm sure the PR around the capping of a "fictitious nose-less" player would be better and more interesting then some random girl (what seems to be a ex-marketing employee of some League-based news company) acting as arm candy to her new Besties....

It just seems like she is using this "job" as meal ticket and some "industry" experience until she can move onto a bigger establishment.
