Western Force 2021

Rodda to the Force

He is now weighing up three separate one-year offers from three Australian Super Rugby clubs worth as much as $700,000 less.

The Waratahs are in desperate need of a star lock and have spent considerable time and effort to sign the 24-year-old, who hails from Evans Head, in northern NSW. But the Herald can reveal Rodda is currently leaning towards signing with the Force. The Rebels are the other club currently in the mix.

The contracts on offer are believed to be worth between $300,000 and $400,000 for the 2022 Super Rugby season and do not include any Rugby Australia top-up money.

Great get. Big improvement on the current crop (if you count FLW (Fergus Lee-Warner) as a flanker).

Whatever happened to that Welsh bloke that is returning to Australia next year, Force are going to be formidable if they get both Rodda and him.

Now this IS an excellent signing - Timani back to his roots/Oz.
Played for the Perth Spirit in 2007 and last played for the WF (3) in 2008 before heading East.
Brumbies - 8; Tahs - 42; Wallabies - 18 before heading to Montpellier (45) in 2013 and Clermont (66) in 2016.

Sitaleki Timani - Wallaby lock joins the Force

March 8, 2021

Another Wallaby has joined the Western Force squad, with Sitaleki Timani returning to the club as an injury replacement for the remainder of the season after leaving France for family reasons.

The towering lock adds a wealth of experience to the Force, having won both the French Top 14 and European Rugby Challenge Cup during his time in France.

Sita has been playing the house down with Clermont and has evidently just been getting better with age (34).

European Rugby sites rank Timani very highly on the world stage and even higher in Europe.
#6/15 in the Top 14 and #9/52 in the Heinekin Cup.

Sita has been playing up to 33 games per season while in France.
Averaged 70 minutes a game when starting with Clermont over 2020/21.
Evidently played only 3 weeks ago and is ready to go!!
If he's fit - I'd start him against the Rebs.

Good to see some Australian talent coming back.

Not sure if Timani is likely to challenge for a Wallaby squad place or not, but at least he adds to our depth in that spot.

Also helps further improve the Force, which can only be good for Australian rugby.

The RA top - up would surely make up the difference in contract value?

Also fuck.

RA usually set the price of the player when they are contributing and they contribute half. So it would be...Rodda is worth 700 - so you pay 350 and we pay 350. Rodda will get offered a proper contract for 2023 onwards, or maybe just for 2023 WC then leave again.

I reckon Jake Ball is too pedestrian for the pace of SRau and the style of rugby the WF is working towards.
