The Force have to stop importing and start from the ground up.
The main reason John Mitchell was given the inaugural coaching position was because he had the vision of a complete development structure from grass roots through to professional rugby
Rugby WA has cut back it's development
The Metro Union is a bunch of old farts squabbling like women over the last pair of Boxing day red shoes
To paint a picture........WA is booming. There is mass immigration of kiwis for employment, saffers escaping the political situation, Brits escaping the legacy of centuries of empire, and east coasters looking for a better place to live
The rugby ex pat community is a major growth center for Australian rugby. The rugby community in WA is growing exponentially
Rugby WA is incapable of providing the structure to support the vision and hopes of the rugby community. The organisation is sadly lacking in talent, initiative and drive
The West coast junior talent pool is impressive. The kids aged 8-14 are as good as any other junior group anywhere in the world. many of these kids have come from the rugby mad cultures of South Africa and NZ. The kids have ability and raw talent.
Sadly, the structure and opportunity falls away alarmingly for them when they hit their teens
Rugby WA needs to build academies, pump money and elite coaches into the junior systems and hire people more capable at building the organisation from the ground up.......better systems, administration, coaching, development, junior systems
The great opportunity seems to be being p1ssed into the wind
There is too much "we can't afford" this or that......."we can't do this"..........."that won't work in WA"........"we can't"........."there's no funds"
They need a CEO "who can" and asks "how can we" rather than "it can't be done"
WA is the richest state in Australia. Money blows down the street. You can smell the money coming out of the ground.............and Rugby WA is an organisation who can't afford to develop academies, strong junuior and senior club competitions, develop the game in more schools, promote the game in the indigenous communities
It's a circus
Under Mitchell, the organisation built huge momentum at all levels
The wheels have fallen off
This may be reflected in the results of the Force in 2012
