It's unlucky man. Look at Inman. That's just a freakish unlucky thing too happen too any sportsman. I still think the reason pocock is injured is because of a meat head sharks player.

Ripia is staying in Perth for another week which I think is a good thing.

He needs too train with the team for two weeks before starting. I think he might start on the bench when the force come back after the stormers. The hardest thing is it might take him a couple of games too get the combinations really firing. It will be interesting. Or is he good enough too start trait back in, he was good in the early trials.

What's everyone else think?

Go the force!!!!

I'd go along with the luck bit to a degree. Inman's injury was just freakish and realistically so was Bam's. I also think that the way a few of the blokes play, very much in the in-your-face confrontational style, increases the chances of injury. It's what's contributed to Morty being injured so much over the years too.

Ripia shouldn't play until 100% fit, as JOC (James O'Connor) is doing a job there at present. Then I'd like see Ripia - JOC (James O'Connor) - Cummins as the midfield. I think it would be good to give Deans a look at JOC (James O'Connor) permanently at 12, with an eye to later in the year. That combo could do some damage and also be fairly solid in defence. I thought Nick has been far from disgraced at outside centre.

I don't think you can move O'connor out of the 10 jumper. Importing 10's have been an abject failure, and currently Bieber is playing 10 better than I have ever seen Ripia play it. For the future of the Force, JOC (James O'Connor) need's to stay at 10 and we can use Ripia as best we can wherever he fit's in.

If Force want to go anywhere in this comp, now is the time to start building a team around JOC (James O'Connor) (20 years old) and our back row with an eye to the future.

Charger, I understand what you are saying, but I just feel that JOC (James O'Connor) is more a 12 than a 10. I think he's more dangerous a bit wider where he has free reign, rather than running the show tactically as well as being instinctive. He's doing a decent job at 5/8 presently though.

I think they should consider putting him at inside centre and retain JO'C at 10. He's played in that position before. Fairbanks has done OK but he's no world beater. JO'C's been the best Aussie No 10 exponent so far in Super Rugby.

Defiantly a good point but I still think JOC (James O'Connor) will go too 12. I wonder of deans will have anything too say here? I know he normally wouldn't but at the moment he surly would be concerned about the 10 spot for the wobbs and more competition is needed there. I also think the 12 spot is completely up in the air for the wobbs.

JOC (James O'Connor) is starting too settle in the 10 spot and he is only going too get better there. Is ripia that good a inside center? If he is and he plays there he could be the best in aus wearing the 12 jumper by the end of the year.

I also agree that Fairbanks is the weakest link in the force backs ATM and when ripia is back we should start making in roads down the middle. I'm really looking forward too it.

Ripia is a good distributor, frees O'Connor up to play elsewhere in the backline

Virus bites but no excuses

By RugbyWA Media

While four Emirates Western Force backs were struck down with a virus on the eve of the match against the Stormers, Coach Richard Graham said it wasn’t an excuse for the overall lacklustre display at Newlands.

Nick Cummins, Alfie Mafi, Gene Fairbanks and Pat Dellit had hardly the ideal preparation leading in to the game, up all night vomiting and unable to replenish their energy on game day. The virus hit Fairbanks the hardest with the hard nut inside centre unable to take his place in the side and was replaced by new signing Brian Sefanaia just before kick-off.

"We had four backs up all night vomiting - Cummins, Mafi, Dellit and Fairbanks were on drips all night,'' Graham said.

"But at the end of the day that wasn't the reason why we didn't win. We dropped re-starts and made uncharacteristic errors at crucial times and that's got nothing to do with a virus.

"We gave possession to them too many times in too many good places and they took advantage of that.

"You drop kick-offs and they score tries from possession they haven't really earned, it’s that type of mistake that really hurts,” said Graham.

After producing an impressive defensive display against the Lions a week earlier, where they denied the Johannesburg side any try scoring opportunities, the Emirates Western Force were breached six times by the Stormers who made the most of every opportunity handed to them.

“Our defence has been one of the best aspects of our game this season and we had a clear plan about how we wanted to approach this game. We found ourselves on the back foot immediately from our own errors,” said Graham.

"Our tackle miss was low but we were passive in the tackle.”

The Emirates Western Force now returns home to Perth for a huge clash against new Super Rugby side Melbourne Rebels on Saturday night.

I though cummins did bloody well now. One of our standouts with this going on.

Force Press Release (so the mail was true then?):

Emirates Western Force prop Tim Fairbrother will finish up his Super Rugby career in Perth at the end of this season and head to England to play for London based side Harlequins in the Aviva Premiership.

Fairbrother moved to Perth in 2009 following 58 games for the Wellington based Hurricanes and impressed with his work rate and nous in the front row where he added leadership to a group of promising developing players.

“I have really enjoyed my time in Perth, it was the right decision for me to come across and I feel as though now is the right decision to test myself in another competition after nine seasons in Super Rugby,” Fairbrother said.

While born in New Zealand, Fairbrother was eligible to play for the Wallabies and despite taking part in a number of Australian scrum sessions he was ultimately overlooked by national selectors.

“The Wallabies coaching staff were looking for something different in their front row at the moment and I can head to England happy in the knowledge I gave it my best crack,” Fairbrother said.

The Force have a big problem next year in the scrum IMO. Fairbrother going and I have heard that Cowan will also be going overseas as well. That will leave Dunning, Longbottom and who PAE? They need to recruit the front row as a priority.

Hasn't time moved on since this thread was last posted in, 2 wins in a row and Rabbit looking like jumping ship (mangled metaphors).

On Paddy Dellit's form last night at 13, I would leave Inman on the bench even when he comes back. Let's develop Dellit instead with an eye to the future.

On a bright note, we should see Pocock back hopefully next week and maybe Hodgo.

Tough run home with Crusaders, Tahs, Brumbies at home, Hurricanes and Highlanders away then finish back in Australia to face the Reds and Rebels.

I am really looking forward to seeing INman at 13 again. However I would like to say to all those who have said differently, that Delit proves yet again that there are some exceptional players in Oz who just do not get picked. How many others are there just waiting to get a start. I am positive that there is somebody better than Ryan Cross at 13 for the Tahs.

That is a damn tough run for the Force coming up. If they win three from the next five it will be a good effort. Any more will be mightily impressive. Altough they do have some key players returning at the right time, and some of their other "lesser known" forwards like Wykes are stepping up.
