sad to see alfie leave the ACT but it never really worked for him here. I doubt weather it will their to be honest. He's always hurt and seems to be losing pace.

the Force have updated their player profiles a bit with the following detail:

Cruze Ah-Nau - Academy
Ted Postal - Academy
Siliva Siliva - Academy

Paul Alo-Emile - Rookie
Mark Swanepoel - Rookie
Phoenix Battye - Rookie
Jono Jenkins - Rookie

I know they have more of an extended academy with more locals but at least this is a bit more detail.

I think if the right selections are made the Force will have a cracking backline...

10. Ripia
11. Smith
12 JOC (James O'Connor)
13. Inman
14. Cummins
15. Shepherd

That's a really good (mostly) young backline I feel

Will be interesting to see how Swany goes. Was a brief period where he was number 3 in QLD before he went west.

Steven Pocock is still part of the WF Academy?

It is quite good. And then there is Bartholomeuz, Mafi and Stannard on the bench. There is also Pat Dellit and Rory Sidey who I am interested to see how they go in the top league.
Depth is a bit of an issue mind. If Ripia goes down at all, we are looking at Stannard or OConnor to take over the 10 role.

And also in that academy somewhere is Kyle Godwin.

dont think so--returned home last season with a serious injury,I believe

Was speaking to his pysio not long ago. Seems potentially, that he won't play again. Unfortunate for the lad, especially with the massive leg up he got.

If Siliva is an academy player and Frier falls apart like he has for the last couple of seasons perhaps we'll see him pull a Charles and come over to the Rebels.

I'm so surprised he wasn't lured over to the Rebels already considering his juniour routes.

Was he any good, or just running off of his brothers name?
en force er, I was also a little surprised that Siliva Siliva didnt head to Melbourne, given that he is behind both Charles and Whittaker - both of whom are young and likely to be around for a while, but neither being experienced enough to offer mentoring.

He is also behind that Tyrell fellow, unless the rumours that he is converting back to back row are true.

Surely Melbourne could have at least equaled an academy contract.

If you apply the criteria of "who could run out for the Wallabies tomorrow ahead of the incumbents " to this backline - I don't reckon its that good and the bench is worse - If you are an optimist dream on. I like reality - I don't even see many of them playing for the Wallabies in the future in a commanding sense - My opinion

OConnor is an incumbent Wallaby. Shepherd, if fit, would have had a shot at the squad then who knows. Cummins was in the Wallaby squad last year until he ws injured. He isnt good enough to be a starting Wallaby but he is at least pushing for the extended squad. Inman I believe will have a real shot. Smith is not eligible. Ripia isnt either, but who knows where he will go. I dont think he will be, but he might make the extended squad.

yes but his point is correct, based on a Wallaby squad tommorow, O'Connor is the only one. Cummins, Inman, Ripia and Smith wouldnt make the squads, Shepherd is the only one if he were fully fit, even then he would only be contending for a bench spot, KB (Kurtley Beale) has nailed the fullback spot.

Fair enough. I guess I am optimistic. I have hopes that Inman will build on his season last year and challenge for a Wallaby squad spot in the RWC. And I hope Cummins will get back to where he was last year prior to his injury - this year wasnt as good as last. And I have high hopes that one of Dellit or Sidey wills step up.
And I was a little disappointed that Sheehan didnt get more recognition after his performances this year. But I guess that Genia and Burgess are nailed in, and then the squad would add a up and coming half back instead of another older more established player.

Talk is cheap this time of the year and by the end of the comp there will be some surprises.

On the face of it, and at the minute, the Force seen to have the weakest backline taking into account the fellows who are likely to be on the bench.

I see a problem at flyhalf with Ripia unless he takes a step up. The Kiwi the Reds got, Mike Harris, would have been a better acquisition and was the best goal kicker in the ITM Cup this year IIRR. I think he knocked back an offer from the Force; so they couldn't have done a lot about it but I fear that your fellows will be found wanting again in that area. Who is the backup for him? Hunt? Good luck.

PS - feel free to throw this back at me if your fellows do well - I hope they do.

PPS - I am also going to be interested in watching Inman in 2011. He's a hard running player who lacks a bit of guile, and also sympathy for supporting players. Young players tend to use their strengths and spurn other things they are less good at, not realising that they are constraining their development and incidentally, perhaps losing the interest of people that matter.

That opinion could be bunk - but let's see.
