Were the Wallabies burnt out?

If there was burn out, it was evident in Cooper and Genia's uninspiring play compared to Super 15

I think Genia was off due to the forwards going backwards vs Ireland, S.A and AB's

Cooper is just not up to it in the really big games at international level.

A incredible super rugby talent but no backbone when the chips are down and his completely inept performances in Aus's 3 big games prove it. You have to be so much more then a mercurial attacking talent to be a world class international 10.

Wallabies didn't suffer from burnout anymore then the NH sides suffered from a lack of match practice coming in. If the season was really too long why are the AB's looking so good?

I'm glad we went full-strength into the 3Ns. Winning that competition is the primary (and only really significant) achievement of the Deans era and was an impressive effort. I think the loss to Ireland and carrying injured players into the RWC placed significant additional stress on the first choice, fit players. I also think Deans was foolish not to rest Genia and others when he had the chance against the minnows.

Hardly played all year.

Ah precisely, TPN is like a heavyweight boxer, builds his body up and then smashes it down with massive hits and explosive plays..
TPN's injuries were those of wear and tear, you only had to watch how many times he went down a game.

His style of play and physique at the moment requires a longer recuperation period then what's offered in the current Super Rugby/international schedule

I like to watch

If Genia's form can be excused, you have to extend the same courtesy to QC (Quade Cooper) for the same reason.
I did notice in the Wales game, Genia was continually passing to and not in front of the 10 all day. Barnes in particular was forced to catch the ball on his heels all day. Makes it hard for the 10 to shine when they are doing that to you continually

If that's the case it's an incredibly poor way to prepare for top level rugby.

this isnt parochilism talking, but thats a load of crap..

3 years ago, everyone claimed Quade Cooper belonged in club rugby and no part at Super Rugby level, in 2011 he pretty much ran toe for toe with Dan Carter for the best 5/8 in competition.

Quade unquestionably faltered at the RWC, but to rule him out as incapable of playing that level is extremely premature, i have no doubt Quade will still stand to become one of the best 5/8's Australia has had in the professional era. Unfortunately for him, and the general rugby population, it couldnt come soon enough.

Anyway, there is a whole other thread dedicated to this very topic of QC (Quade Cooper), so lets stick to the issue of player burnout.
