Something very wrong at the Tahs. The forwards couldn't even maul tonight. I hope they sort it out, we need these same blokes firing for Oz.

No we need the people in charge to pick the blokes who are performing.

Make me a selector for the Waratahs and I will pick the right team and I can gaurantee half of the team in there now wont be selected. Woeful Waratahs what a joke. I know for a fact there is just too much politics in the NSWRU and you know what it starts from the NSWJRU. Take a page from NZ they pick the in form players not the pricks from what school they were from or how much money they have. In Australia its a corporate game and in NZ its the peoples game, that is the difference. Geez NSW wake up to yourselves!!!!!!

Well, yes, it's a new low. Not that the Canes are bad -- they're not -- more that there are games you simply have to win if you are a serious, potentially contending club. The Waratahs are not. What is required is beyond me, but I do know that this horrific season requires accounting.

I don't think its a new low at all Richo. Its the same low that was reached last year with the cheetahs, which was simply brushed aside.

New low for the season, is what I meant. Even losing to the Force at home wasn't this bad. Where was the pride?

the job was done the other week when 11 of them knew they had secured their pay for another year..

... crap kicking .... crap passing ...

You've nailed it, mate. Barnes is the worst player in the side. He is absolutely awful. Fatprop makes the excuse that he's getting slow ball. Fair enough, but still, he can't kick or pass in the position that is supposed to do those two things really well. Cull!

Piggies? It's weird. They have the cattle. They have the muscle. Just not ... what? The technique? The will? One thing I've noticed about them over the past couple of years is that they've been completely unable to turn scrum dominance into playing advantage. They actually manage to create slow ball out of a dominant scrum! There's something wrong in the Tah collective brain, that's for sure.

Foley admitted the intense scrutiny the group has been under might have taken its toll.

"Undoubtedly, there's certain things that would shift people's thoughts. I think it happens more in the moment rather than going into the game," said Foley.

Is Foley saying the players have hurt feelings? And where he is talking bout shifting thoughts, is he cleverly sending a coded message to the players, entreating them to try and win?

Hurt feelings FFS they are professional footballers. Also where is the pride they shouldn't be asked to perform or entreated to play better - they should perform or get out.

My concern is the damage that is being done to rugby in this city by their performances this and last year. Here you get a club like Penrith doing all they can to promote rugby out west and get the club going when the main "brand" is doing everything it can to bring the sport so far behind the main 2 (league and AFL) and even that other football. We've said it before and will keep saying it teh whole TAH's organisation needs some sort of review

Okay, you're a selector. Now pick your team.

The really interesting thing for me last night was the scrum. It was terrible and you'd say the Canes had the better one all night. Was it just the conditions? How does the team with the best scrum all year lose the one part of their game which is a strength? All confidence?

Tahs were horrible - scrum got belted even with Robbo, Kepu and TPN.

IMO the Tahs are full of talented players who have under-peformed.

Maybe some of the fault should be directed towards Foley but only some. players need to take responsibility.

To me, it all comes down to ATTITUDE.

Classic example is the Brums. Not as good a playing group (as the Tahs) but self-belief has put them at the top of our Conference.

Go and have a look at the scrums again What and Qwerty. They were getting caned on the hit in the first 30. Timani was replaced and the Tahs became dominant even getting two Tight heads, one by walking over the ball and one by a clean strike. The Tahs then sacrficed the scrum in the last 20 by replacing Kepu with Ulugia and then Tilse for TPN. The key point for the improvement in the scrum was the replacement of Timani.

yes Gnostic that may have been the case but Timani has been in plenty of dominant scrums, he doesn't have a scrummaging problem.

for whatever reason the first half scrums were belted.

Genuinely feel for all Tahs supporters (as I normally never do)

Just like reds supporters a couple of years ago - always hate losing BUT as long as your team plays to ability with passion and a never-say-die attitude and then loses then quite acceptable to me

Are you being serious? Worst player in the side? I didn't say that, and my post doesn't single out Barnes at all. Yes. Barnes skill execution is very poor, but he has shown the ability to do it. I ask why he seems unable to consistantly perform those skills.

The squad has some issues but overall it is a very good squad. I believe that the reasons for their under performance are:-
1) Poor selection for the game plan to be played.
2) Poor tactical decisions
3) The team is not fit
4) Some squad positions are filled by players who have never been fit and were never likely to be fit.
5) Psychology - the coaches/management says we are going to run the ball and play exciting rugby (whatever that is supposed to be) and plays the same game plan as they have for years. In fact media reports this week indicate that Foley ws in fact the coach last year with Hickey being a Team Manager (should I say coaching director) position. What do the players do, folow the game plan or what the coach has publicly said.
6) Media Propaganda - for a lot longer than this year the Tahs have been crticised for having a kicking game. It is nothing but propaganda of the worst sort, to sell their copy. They kick less than most teams and last night was a case in point. What an informing media should have been reporting on was quality of execution.
7) Board - the board needs to stop the political games and actually put in place a system at the Tahs that can result in success. Success as apart from titles. Leadership comes fromt he top down.

The position of the coach and the board is untenable.

Evidence? Most of the other games he has played this year have been at 8. I would suggest on the evidence of last night he does have a problem or was at least a significant issue last night.

I do not rate Timani at this stage. He carries well over the gain line but loses possession just as often. He is also just as unfit/lazy as the rest of the Tahs. Last year against Samoa he was shown up big time (along with the rest of them yes.) He has potential but that is it at this stage.

It doesn't work that way. For teams to be effective they have to have complete trust in their teammates and be working towards the same overall goals. It seems to me that the tahs have (consciously or subconsciously, it doesn't matter) gone into self preservation mode and thats often driven by individual pride.

You can see the players putting in for patches of the game, but only a few are really digging in for the whole game. The only good thing about last night for the tahs is they have a break now to regroup, both the players and off field staff.
