Waratahs - post-season think

Gnostic - from what I have heard, Cheika and the Tahs have talked, he made a list of several criteria that needed to be met and it ended with that. Then as he formed as force coach the Tahs have again made contact with him.

I was aware of the bad blood also, thought no chance, but I know it has definitely been discussed.

Waratahs ltd may be on its last legs as it currently exists.

I wonder what some of those criteria were.:).

I know we have butted heads on this a few times but my premise in posting 18 months ago the "Tragedy of the Modern Tahs" was to avoid the collapse of the Tahs Ltd (to use your term). The fact that most of those in power on the board now have been there before Tahs Rugby Ltd should tell all about the need for a big cleanout. It would've been much better if we had seen it last year, but for some valid reasons and good intentions the rot was allowed to continue. I take no pleasure at all in what is happening, in fact the opposite, but I find myself hoping for that total collapse so that we can finally lay the foundation to build something that won't be hamstrung by poor systems and politics.

Indeed. If he said he wanted a former Australian 1987 world cup and subsequently Oxford Uni, Ireland test and Balmain rugby league player as backs coach, that was unlikely to have gone down well with the current NSWRU hierarchy.

But please dismiss this as mere speculation.

Now you're talking BS.

I must admit that when I first saw the thread title I thought it was Post Season Wank and I assumed that the Waraths were organising another fan forum.

I assume that the correct term for the internal review of the coaching team was 'circle jerk'. A bunch of nameless board members leave the room satsfied but vaguely disappointed and slightly ashamed while leaving behind an unholy mess for others to clean up.

From the 2012 season review on the Tahs website as quoted from coach Foley:

“We know from this year’s experience that somebody starting after five weeks of doing nothing in mid-January and then expecting to play well in four weeks time won’t work,” he said. “We have to challenge those internationals returning to the program to be more ready that we were at the beginning of this season.”

I have no coaching experience whatsoever, but even I can work out that re-starting training for four weeks before the season starts isn't the smartest idea. So for him, with his considerable coaching background, to say that he only worked this out this year then the Tahs' results this year should be no surprise.

I was confused as to the purpose of this document. Is it merely PR? If its intended as any more then it is disturbingly superficial.
It also appears not to have been proof read:
“ We shouldn’t doubt that the distance to where we are and where we need to go will require significant sacrifice and we all need to embrace that.”
Unless someone decided that a Foley verbatim quote which, strictly speaking, makes no sense would show him in the appropriate light.

IS it was written by their "media unit"
Good too see a a consistent performance across the various business units of the organisation.

Having seen some of the 2012 post-match interviews, it definitely represents Foley-speak.

The Media Unit is a bit of a cop out isn't it? There should be a name attached to each of the articles they post.
My first reaction was the same, fairly light on for a season review. Perhaps these were highlights from what coach Foley presented to the board?

Why don't the Waratahs update their website.
Coaches and Managers who have left the organisation are still showing.
This relates to the 2012 Season that's finished now.
What other professional business leaves up photos and details of staff who have in effect, joined a major competitor?

The unpaid intern is on vacation.

Why update the website until you have replacements. If they updated now to no one, they would need to update again later and that would double the workload.

For f sake, even when the Tahs think ahead they get criticized.

Hasn't Gaffney been appointed as acting something?
