And that might be true, but in that case I'd want us to then go after a top tier prop. Then a top tier hooker. Then a top tier centre. Then a top tier wing/FB. Then if we can get none of those, maybe we think about another backrower.

Because that's how it's gunna work. Just players lining up waiting their turn.

Most blokes across the board are only getting 1 yr extension because the cap is going down again next yr & its still up in the air about 2023

In addition to the changes potentialyl coming for the WC year in regards to contract value/salary caps and RA income - Bells value will go up and up as he A) is in demand and B) Slipper might not play through to 2023.

Silly for him to lock in a long term price now when the bargaining power will be his prior to the WC year.

Though props are one of our smaller exports. The UK & France have no issue developing squat, strong fat men, they have millions. Australia keeping nearly all our first class props & hookers on shore isn’t a coincidence.

My concern with the guy is that he has skated through prop work because of his immense ability around the field, but that only takes him so far and I haven't seen enough improvement in his scrummaging

But that may be a symptom of the Tahs pack, not him, dunno, but the jury is out

Fair enough. I haven't watched his scrumming that closely this year, but I do recall last year he did admirably well for the Wallabies at the set piece in his stints off the bench.

Thor got Bell yellow carded in the first game. In the second game Bell got Nonggorr yellow carded. It was awesome but I do agree they need as much time as possible getting twisted by 35 year old plumbers in club footy to harden up.

I think their secret is being fatties who can scrummage who become fitter, leaner and more athletic in pro outfits, a couple in the Reds programme are prime examples

FP I think you might be a bit hard on Bell. He got worked over by Tupou, but that aside most of the grief I saw with the Tahs pack has been on the tight head side. Unfortunately, I don't believe switching HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes) has worked.
