On the other hand the depth of their squad means they can probably rest and rotate players more often than other teams. Their 2nd XV would be a fair bit stronger than every other teams 2nd XV IMO.

I think it will be Hegarty for reasons listed above but I'd personally I'd love to see Barnes back for a final time. He was always a solid player who gave his all; not the flashiest compared to others but with a bunch of young backs could be a good asset off the pitch.

Former Melbourne Rebels flyhalf Bryce Hegarty is returning to Super Rugby, signing with the NSW Waratahs.
Hegarty, who has been based in Japan this summer playing for Top League side Toyota Industries Shuttles, alongside fellow Aussie Mark Gerrard.
NSW coach Daryl Gibson hinted at the 23-year-old’s signing a fortnight ago, indicating the club was after an "all-rounder" and reiterated that on Thursday.
“Bryce has excellent skills and experience, with two years of Super Rugby as a fly-half under his belt," he said.
“He is a solid all-rounder, capable of playing at 10 or full-back, which will give our back-line extra options.
“He is a great addition to the squad and I think our system will suit his style of play."

Good pickup. He's no world beater, but he's got a bit about him. Think he'll look much better at the Tahs than he did the Rebels. And given how much rugby Foley has been playing having someone like Hegarty in reserve is no bad thing.

Was very disappointed when the Rebels let Bryce go, think his going to be a vary good back up for 10 and 15. TM wasted him last season at the Rebels

There was an article up a few weeks ago on Gerrard. Supposedly he really likes Japan, both the country and the league, as he gets to play plenty without burning out his body. Something about wanting to play another couple of seasons then think about retiring, but mentioning that he had the same plan in 2013, so who knows when he'll stop.

Always sucks to lose players from a Rebels perspective. Obviously if we continue to improve and hopefully secure a playoff spot, all will be forgiven, but there's been some odd treatment of players since TT. First Pyle and then Neville moved on in favour of his preferred Timani and Jones pair, Max Lahiff came on a 2 year deal, completed 1 year, then something funky happened and he signed for Bath, now Hegarty and Veainu have been moved on as well. We can't really stop a Higgers or a PAE, given the reasons they left, but all 5 of the above, could still be making valuable contributions to the current side.

Lahiff has some sort of back or neck disorder or something. Aus rugby wouldnt cover his insurance but he was fine back home.
