Good to see we've got some real competition for the pre-season games.

There's one full contract spot left. All Aus eligible, no marquee as of yet. I've put the 34 into positions as best as possible:

1. Robinson/Tilse
2. Polota-Nau/Fitzpatrick/Ulugia/Holmes(EPS)
3. Kepu/Ryan
4. Douglas/Atkins
5. S Timani/Peterson
6. Dennis/Holloway(EPS)
7. Hooper/McCutcheon
8. Palu/L Timani
9. McKibbin/Hart/Lucas(EPS)
10. Foley/Lane(EPS)/Volavola(EPS)
11. Mitchell/Betham
12. Barnes/Carter
13. Horne/Kingston
14. Turner/Hodge
15. Ashley-Cooper/Crawford

You'd think the last spot will got to a backrower, one who plays 6 and 7 at a pinch. Any ideas?

They are saving the spot for if they are fucked for depth in a certain position.

Personally I think it's a bit silly, the ARU let you move heaven and earth to find a player for a spot if you're really fucked. Suppose they like the idea that it can be anyone of any nationality rather than trying to pick pocket an Aussie from the Japanese.

I'm sure they'll do something for the ladies - like the Reds did for Mothers Day this year when they played the Chiefs!

I take it we are still at 34 contracts for the Tahs. Is there a wider training group (WTG) announced while the Reds College is 13 strong and Brumbies WTG is 7 and 2 schoolies. In 2012, the Tahs seemed to prefer players from the WTG then EPS with BKH, Pakalani and Trist overlooked for Betham whilst those 3 were playing SS.

It seems a fair call given how well Betham's been playing in the ITM cup

I am getting so excited at the prospect of one of St Pius XIII's X's finest rugby graduates bringing his international form into the Tahs for Season 2013.

Can't wait to see Hoops plying his wares at the SFS.

Edit: Got a few St Pius's ahead of myself.

So am I, but it probably won't happen in my lifetime. The Piuses are currently up to 12, could reach 13 in the next millenium. Then there's the canonisation to follow in the succeeding millenium, or two.....

Opps. St Pius X is an Independent Catholic Boys College, NSW, Australia, started in 1937 as Christian Brothers Chatswood.

St Pius Enmore (which I occasionally drive past) doesn't even have a number after it. That was going to the basis of my "I'm confused" about how many St Pius's there are defence. :)

School Names is not my strong point. I have already been outed in the NSW Under 16 thread for the sin of referring to Knox Grammer as Knox College.

it pains me that the tahs (and all the other aussie teams for that matter) have not figured out the value the marquee player can bring
they all waste their spots on kiwis or saffas... and how many of kiwis or saffas can we expect to purchase a jersey in their home country to support an australian team?
anyone who doesnt know what im talking about should look into how many people throughout asia began to support manchester united once park ji-sung was signed... think of the value (in merchandise) of signing an argentine or american player?
im sure if they tried they could find a player that offered a similar skills set but marketing wise offered so much more~
christ if they signed bod they would sell thousands of shirts in ireland plus every irish supporter in australia would turn up to the tahs games!
