We have 3 halfbacks; McKibbin, Hart and Lucas.

The next best 7 in Shute Shield, I'd give McCaffrey or Hickey a run.

Lee Grant

John Eales (66)
Perrett may have been shoehorned into the spot in Super rugby and played there for his club, but he is not really an openside.

I was going to say Trent Dyer but he has been nabbed as has Jordy Reid, not really a specialist 7, I know, but he's done OK wearing the shirt for Manly sometimes.

Farque, that's right: Sean Doyle is Ireland qualified (would have to be with that name) and is playing for Ulster now. I always rated him as a hard head, and a rough head to go with it, though he never got much of a mention.

Next cab off the rank I would have Kotoni Ale - but seem to remember he had gone to the Pro D2 in France. Maybe not; but if he has gone offshore I would get David Hickey. a true madman, but I admire that in a 7. I would just get the trainer to pop a few downers into his mouth before he ran on.

Two scrummies out? Yeah I would take Josh Holmes back; after all he has his own peg in the dressing room at the SFS. That's if he hasn't gone back to France. If he has, I would take a punt on a youngster like Waldo Wessells or Tim Donlan, though I'm not sure how Waldo came back after his operation earlier in the year.

It is well that good players in the Shute Shield are being rewarded with chances to play Super Rugby somewhere.

A background story on Holloway from the local rag:

.../snip/,,, Moving in with Pat and Josie Finnegan, parents of Wallaby Owen Finnegan until his parents relocated to Sutherland Shire, he finished his schooling at Waverley College before joining Southern Districts club last year

.../snip/,,,.

Finnegan - Waverley College and Randwick family.

Must have been a Waverley College gesture because I can't imagine the Wicks being happy to "lose" a player to the Hobbits after "putting him" up for a year.

With the rise of Douglas and Timani, fully fit TPN, Robinson and Palu, a more experienced Dennis and Kepu, and the signing of year with Hooper, The Tahs are gunna have a bloody damn good forward pack.

But again the inside backs look predictable and some-what one-dimensional.

That forward pack subject to staying fit, Lucas, Lane, Barnes, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), (Kingston / Turner / Mitchell) Folley - the halves may take away some of the predictability.

Had the good fortune to stumble across the Bulls vs Waratahs game in Pretoria from 2010.

If they could play like that every game, we'd be champs. Played with more speed than Breaking Bad.

Lee,

Ulugia played THP this season and did quite well. So we have Kepu, Ryan, Ulugia & Tilse who can cover THP

I don't see why we would consider another 9 for the EPS, we have 3 contracted

A seven or a good young 12 would be my preference, so Hickey or Apo Latunipulu

I think it all comes down to if Foley at 10 works. I don't necessarily agree with how key people think a 10 is (I think 9 is far more important) but for the Tahs they really need an inside back that'll make stuff happen and it can only be him really.

This is why I think Toby Browne should get the remaining spot.

Have I missed something? Is Saifoloi signed with someone else or gone OS? We have one decent 10 and one in the EPS and people are talking about props, breakaways and inside centres.

I agree, I have no idea why they want so many outside backs and not 10s and centres.

Kingston, Betham, Turner, Mitchell, Hodge, Crawford, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)

still think Sam Lane and maybe Lucas will get some time at 10. ...At least off the bench to spark something. Foley was 10 by neccessity not choice . Different coach remember guys he may want a specialist not a 15 convert.

If Foley is not a 10, just a converted 15, then who in the main squad is a specialist 10! That's right, no one. If you are right Cheika has no specialist main squad choices at 10 at all!
