You'd think with his game time for the Force last year he would have been close to a contract there, so maybe EPS wasn't enough to keep him at the Tahs?

The EPS hasn't been announced for the Tahs yet.

Someone in the Rebels thread was saying last night that they thought Luke Holmes was heading to the Tahs. Not sure what to make of that given we have TPN, Fitzpatrick and Ulugia all on contract.

Betham scored 2 more great tries for Tasman tonight, the form winger of the ITM Cup. Chieka must be licking his lips.

I know, sheesh. He was probably signed to be a solid player with Super rugby experience who will miss the 22 most weeks and yet with his form I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was taken on the spring tour (for mid-weeks of course, let's not get ridiculous).

They have Sam Lane.

THE Waratahs have pinched rising no.10 Sam Lane from arch-rivals Queensland, furthering fraying the Reds’ nerves about Quade Cooper’s future.
Lane was announced today as one of four signings in the Waratahs Emerging Player Squad for 2013, along with Aussie sevens player Matt Lucas, Southern Districts lock Jed Holloway and former Western Force and Warringah hooker Luke Holmes.

Jed Holloway is a great signing as well.

It seems funny that Luke Holmes has left the Rebels to become the fourth string hooker at the Tahs. Unless of course Fitzpatrick is still crocked.

We can only assume that no one offered him a full contract. So if he was waying up EPS offers, I suspect he is more likely to pick the one that allows him to live in his hometown and play more frequently with his club.

Anyone want to have a swing at a first 15 for tahs next year with the signings.Sam Lane in maybe?

If everyone is fit...

1. Robbo
2. TPN
3. Kepu
4. Douglas
5. Timani
6. Dennis
7. Hooper
8. Palu
9. McKibbin
10. Foley
11. Turner
12. Barnes
13. Horne
14. Mitchell
15. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)

There are plenty of other variations. Betham's form has been tremendous and he could force his way in. Tom Carter's aggression and enthusiasm seems like something Cheika would really like. He must be a chance at 12. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) could play 13 and Barnes could play fullback. Barnes could play 10 and Foley fullback.

There is one squad spot and one EPS spot still open. Am I right in saying that Saifoloi and Volavola are still not contracted to anyone? It would be a huge call but I wouldn't mind seeing them get the last two spots (squad and EPS respectively). I know its said that we need another lock, but we are very short of quality at 10 and unless you want Barnes there, which did not go well this year, we only have Foley and Lane. We've got oodles of outside back flexibility (11 upwards), three 9's and only Foley with any real Super experience of running a backline, and not very much at that! Unless Cheika has totally changed his coaching philosophy, Saifoloi would fit right in.

Saifoloi and Volavola deserve the spots, if they actually get them it will be a sign of cheika's influence as previously these type of attacking stars in shute shield rugby have been left no choice but go to europe

I had to laugh, weren't we just saying how awesome Bethams playing?

I hope Cheika picks him over Turner or an unfit Mitchell.

Our backrow is currently Hooper, Cutch, Dennis, Palu, and Lopeti Timani. I think one of those spots needs to be a backrower too.

Probably a 6/7 more than a 6/8.

I'd like to see a 4-5/6, sort of like Mumm. We have Palu and Lopeti who are impact backrowers, and Dennis who is more of a grinder. It'd be nice to see another grinder to compliment Dennis in case of injury.

(Propose that grinding style backrowers be known as "Baristas" )
