The move of Beale to Melbourne is bad news for the Tahs, as he has already developed into the standard of player I thought he would be at when he was at school. He is our best flyhalf at the minute and the best fullback in Oz. This versatility is priceless in times like now when so many Tahs backs are not available.

The Tahs could decide to keep Halangahu to back up Barnes, because the next flyhalf in line at the minute is 20 y.o. Ben Seymour of Manly with 19 y.o. Rohan Saifoloi in the wings.

The likely departure of Burgess is not good news either with Nick Phipps likely to remain in Melbourne. McKibbin will be the man, but Josh Holmes could get a reprieve because the next fellow in the Tahs stable is Ed Bedenhann, who has just turned 20.

There are some harder heads than these young fellows in the Sydney comp in the 9 and 10 positions and outside the stable, but the halves depth situation for the Tahs next year does not look great.

I don't know what they'd have to entice him to come. If they couldn't out-money the Rebels for KB (Kurtley Beale), they won't be able for JOC (James O'Connor). Higher publicity and closer to family perhaps. At the same time, Melbourne is still plenty close compared to Perth, if that's what's on his mind.

The player in question would want to like the coach in question for that. Which isn't settled for the Tahs. kurtley going does mean Tom Carter keeps his starting spot, with every death comes rebirth as they say.

i dont think the reds would be a great place for JOC (James O'Connor) to develop, playing next to quade when your best asset is in close stepping and his is cut out passes isnt the best thing. that said JOC (James O'Connor) would go alright anywhere. i think being behind a decent pack should be his number one priority, would love to see him come to the tahs but think melbourne would snag him.
