He's certainly unpredictable. Could be an interesting inclusion. Was going alright when he was with the Sharks before he was injured against ironically if he comes the Tahs.

I can't remember him playing 15!

Reading the article, he wanted to leave as he didn't want to be playing scrummie....

Don't trust French medias for that... Michalak wants to play again in Super Rugby, scrum half or fly half.
He is leaving Toulouse coz Burgess, Vergallo and Bezy will be playing 9 and Beauxis, McAlister and Doussain will be playing 10. He has no future there.

The season for Toulouse
Frederic Michalak should not wear the jersey of Toulouse next season. The scrumhalf or flyhalf International accepts the proposed contract extension by the club Haute-Garonne. Midi Olympique even indicates that Michalak will join the Australian Waratahs province.

Which evolves Frederic Michalak (28 years, 54 caps) next season? The scrumhalf or flyhalf International Stade Toulousain officially announce his choice Wednesday at a radio top-Garonne. Midi Olympique advance, however, that the player will no longer colors Red and Black. His first club he has yet offered a contract extension in early January. Guy Noves, Toulouse's manager, had met his protege to express its intention to keep it. Problem: Novès wanted to see him move to the position of scrum-half Frederic Michalak while no longer hides its desire to endorse the final number ten. Five weeks have been offered to the player so he can reflect on the situation. Michalak has far exceeded this limit. And even if the proposal Toulouse - lowered from the current contract - still holds, he should decline.

After South Africa, Australia ...

Therefore, the question arises as to the future destination of Michalak. Several French clubs were interviewed in recent weeks. Starting with Biarritz. The Basque president Serge Blanco has even met with the player but send him the contract proposal. Bayonne and Lyon are also shown. Without success. Michalak has always admitted he would be hard to move in other than a French club Toulouse. The solution from abroad seems most likely. As was the case in 2007 where he joined the South African province of Sharks. This time, Frederic Michalak should opt for Australia and Waratahs team. Training that aims to fill the departures of its stars Luke Burgess and Kurtley Beale ...

I thought that was pretty good for a babelfish/google translate effort. It actually made a bit of sense, thanks #1

Seconded on the Horne issue too, would really like to see him un-crocked and firing on all cylinders so he can play himself into WC contention

A fit, in-form Horne raises the possibility of:

Genia
Cooper
Ioane
JOC (James O'Connor)
Horne
AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
Beale

I would really like to see this happen because this is potentially our best backline (without drew), but at this point in time I don't think horne has done enough to earn a gold jersey. Lets hope he can stay uninjured and find some form.

I was thinking the exact same thing Groucho! That would be a great backline! I hope Horne gets enough game time pre-RWC and stays fit.

I really don't understand this at all, we have solid depth at 6, we need a young fetcher who has the ability to be a test option - all we have is two plodders.

New South Wales Waratahs hold talks with Wallabies captain Rocky Elsom about return Sydney

New South Wales Waratahs have held talks with Wallabies skipper Rocky Elsom about a move back home to Sydney from the Brumbies next season.

With the future of the dynamic back-rower after the Rugby World Cup unclear, the Waratahs have confirmed for the first time that they have made contact.

And with their star fullback Kurtley Beale heading to Melbourne Rebels in 2012, that would free up some cash to make Elsom an attractive offer.

If he makes the switch Elsom would join his Brumbies and former Waratahs teammate Adam Ashley-Cooper in Sydney next season.

"He is a quality player and you are always interested in quality players," Waratahs coach Chris Hickey said.

"We are aware that Rocky is off contract this year and he is a player who has played over 60 games for the Waratahs before he went overseas.

"We have had some very preliminary discussions with him, nothing more than that to see where he is at and what he is interested in."

Brumbies CEO Andrew Fagan said his organisation has held talks with Elsom.

"But for a couple of reasons neither of us was able to commit," Fagan said.

"First of all Rocky was having ongoing discussions with the ARU so until he finalises his position there, there are obviously uncertainties as to whether he will be in Australia or overseas."

Fagan said the Brumbies also wanted to get through the process of appointing their new head coach and give him as much ability as possible to have a say on his playing staff.

"Once we have our head coach on board we will be able to engage in those discussions a little more positively," he said.

The CEO speaks regularly with Elsom and he was aware of the situation.

"He is open to explore other options, so none of that comes as a surprise nor a concern," Fagan said of the Waratahs' interest.

The Brumbies are expected to confirm former Springboks coach Jake White has the job by the end of the week.

Hickey admitted that he does not know which way Elsom will go.

"He may come back and say he is very happy at the Brumbies and is not looking for a move - or he may come back and be interested," Hickey said.

"Rocky hasn't given us any indications one way or the other. We'll just have to wait and see how that one unfolds."

If Elsom stays in Australia for 2012 it will be a two-horse race between the Brumbies and Waratahs for his signature.

The Test skipper does not figure in the future plans of Queensland Reds, the Rebels or Western Force.

Queensland-born Elsom started his senior rugby career playing with the Waratahs and made 66 appearances for the club between 2003 and 2008.

He then headed overseas where he had two very successful seasons with Irish club Leinster, including winning the Heineken Cup, before returning to join the Brumbies last year.

The 28-year-old is yet to get onto the field this Super Rugby season as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.
