I think Higgers should just be there either way.
McCalman and Palu are very similar at 8. Start one and have Higgers on the bench to inject later in the game at 8 or 6.

edit - or as an early replacement as he has a full 80 minutes in him (just to be sure)

Yeah they're both similar because they both play tight. Considering without injury Palu is the one to go off and not Fardy (who plays loose) it makes sense to have a like replacement on the bench.

I think there is much more to see from the French. They lacked the fundamentals and looked pretty lost all over. A lot of that is probably from spending such little time together so the more time they have together the better they are going to be. They made some plays early on and some put in some nice inside balls that looked threatening.

I really hope we don't take them too lightly now and continue to build on a good performance.

I don't get this. It is at the end of the French season in which the test team has recently played a full 6 Nations campaign together. Much better preparation than the Wallabies have had.

just gave speight a google. eligible 9-11. hopefully he blows up the competition! but that gives him 9/16 of our remaining wobs games if he gets selected. will be good when we have a specialist winger to accompany cummins/tomane

Because AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) was so crap? ;)
But yeah, keen to see Speight in gold, fo' sure. He's a menace.

Speight will knock Cummins out of the team before Kuridrani I reckon.

And if O'Connor comes back it will be at the expense of AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper).

2 different types of wingers AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) to 13 with Speight and cummins on the wings.

You need a winger to give you go forward not just zip and finish which Speight is very good at.

Just look at cummins role on the lead up to Hoopers try he took the ball at half way went into contact and he fought and fought and ended up at the 22 which gave us the platform to score the try.

I'd imagine the current back line pecking order sees AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) above both Kuridrani and Cummins.

When Speight becomes available it won't be AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) making way. Likewise it O'Connor returns.

Yeah it's common to see wingers selected in pairs with complementary skill sets. One, a beast who's all leg pumping, hard line running, meter eating go forward and the other a fast, elusive character with more subtlety, a greater array of playmaking and kicking skills (often has played a lot of 15)

speight and cummins has balance, but a bit of a worry in the kicking department. maybe QC (Quade Cooper) could defend in the back three again?

Pretty happy with the back line how it stands, think it can really develop. Speight, Tomane and QC (Quade Cooper) will have to work pretty bloody hard to make their way back into the side.

Cummins commitment and effort to everthing he does is really inspiring.

Interested to hear foley was only 24 thought he was a bit older then that.

agree that the current backline players have locked in those places for the time being. but id still consider quade our first choice 5/8. Foley was decent against a poor french team. i wanna see how he goes for the rest of the series and in the Rugby Championship before i determine whether he keeps his starting spot when cooper returns. good signs tho. I like the fact that he is happy to take the ball into contact (something quade rarely does)
